This 2CD set is EXCELLENT - A must buy for any true SIr Tom Jones FAN!!
I LOVE this CD!! This 2 CD set is EXCELLENT - A must buy for any true Sir Tom Jones FAN! I ordered to get a couple songs I didn't have on other CD's and must say I am so pleasantly surprised. It has all great songs, not one is bad. Almost all are major hits and yet, even those alittle unfamiliar with, you will end up loving. I play it regularly while on computer (it's on right now) as it plays longer than most and it's all great songs. The CD arrived early, it was packaged great and protected from damage. The seller did great job, would recommend seller and will buy from again.

The title "The Singles" is misleading. It does NOT contain all of his hit singles. Not a bad cd, but......
Was hoping this had all of the 80's Top 20 Hits he had, but it does not have any of them. This is a great cd, don't get me wrong. But, it would have been much better to include ALL of his Hit Singles. The title is misleading.

Pretty much complete for the period covered, less Little Lonely One
The other (positive) reviewers pretty much nailed this, but I might add (or reiterate) that this set includes Resurrection Shuffle, and the "Gold" 2-CD set does not.

Great Box set BUT I was looking for Tom's early Single of "The Little Lonely One" BUT the track that said Little Lonely One wasn't the same song, so I'm still searching, guess I'll have to convert the single! Larry Marshall

For the true fan
This album is a must have for the true fan. It has every one of his popular singles. This includes The Man Who Knows Too Much, which I could never find. It also had several that I had never heard. I just love it though because it is the definitive collection.

Definitive sixties and seventies hits
Tom Jones is a legend in his own lifetime and there is a bewildering array of compilations available of varying quality. Choosing one is complicated by his career renaissance following his hugely successful Reload album in the nineties. Personally, I prefer to keep that aspect of his career separate from his earlier music. This compilation, focusing mainly on the sixties and seventies, is the best compilation of Tom's earlier music.Among the classic songs from his peak years (1965 to 1972) that you will find here are It's not unusual, What's new pussycat, Green green grass of home, Detroit city, Funny familiar forgotten feelings, I'll never fall in love again, I'm coming home, Delilah, Help yourself, A minute of your time, Love me tonight, Without love, Daughter of darkness, I who have nothing, She's a lady, Till and The young new Mexican puppeteer. All his other hits from this period are also here.Following that classic period, Tom's hits became fewer and charter lower but Letter to Lucille (1973), Something 'bout you baby I like (1974), Say you'll stay until tomorrow (1977 - this reached number one on the USA country chart) and Kiss (a UK top five hit with the Art of Noise from 1988) are all here.Following his unexpected success on the country chart, Tom recorded other material in similar vein in the late seventies and early eighties and had further country hits without matching the success of Say you'll stay until tomorrow. None of these recordings are included here. Tom reverted to pop music and had a UK number two hit in 1987 with A boy from nowhere. This is also excluded, as is the follow-up, I was born to be me. Next came Kiss, which is included, but that is as far as this compilation goes. With a selection of failed singles and B-sides also included, this is a brilliant compilation of Tom's music from 1965 to 1977, plus one track from 1988. Other aspects of his career including his nineties comeback are covered by other compilations, but if you want the music that made him famous, this double CD should suit you.

I gave this cd 5 stars because I like all of tom jones old hits from the '60s and 70s. It also had some of the songs I have on 45rpm records. It was nice to have the old 45 rpm singles on cd for the first time. What I liked about this cd is it is a double cd and it has some of the old 45 singles that are really hard to find. I would recommend this album to anybody who is a tom jones fan. You won't be disappointed. You will play this cd over and over.

シングルレコードをまた聞けてうれしいです
40年以上前にあきるほど聞いていたシングルレコードを再び聞くことができました。例えば,ゴールドシリーズに収録されている古き恋の想い出(Once There Was A Time)はシングルレコードで聞いていたのと歌唱が違いがっかりしていたところ,このCDの歌唱は,たぶん40年以上前に聞いていたシングルレコードの歌唱そのものだと思います。大昔に聞いていた人間にはたまらないCDです。(その後THE BEST 1000シリーズのCDも買ったところ,40年以上前に聞いていたOnce There Was A Timeは,THE BEST 1000に収録されている方だと分かりました。)
