Streetwise Hawaii Map - Laminated State Road Map of Hawaii Map – December 1, 2009

"Streetwise Hawaii" is a plastic folding driving map of the most visited Hawaiian Islands. One side has general road network coverage for Hawaii (the big island), Maui, Molokai, and Kauai, with major roads only. The Hawaii portion has inset maps of the towns of Hilo and Kailua-Kona; the Maui portion has an inset for Kahului. The reverse of the driving map covers Oahu, the most popular destination in the islands. There is a large scale representation of the island with major roads, and an inset of downtown Honolulu, including Waikiki, at a street level of resolution. A street index for Honolulu is included.The detail on this map is obviously limited; drivers might want more information, especially if they expect to depart the major road network. This map will not serve for off-the-beaten-path navigation. On the other hand, this "Streetwise" map is a handy size, extremely durable and a good starting point for navigating to the major attractions in the Aloha State, and recommended for that purpose.

This map is very nice but like others have said it does not have enough detail to be of any practical use while traveling on the islands. I just returned from Hawaii and while there my GPS unit malfunctioned (would not receive satellite signals for about 2 hours). I had this map but it was of no value. Fortunately at the last second as I was about to panic, my GPS kicked back in and got me to the car rental agency in time to make my flight. This map was of no value because of lack of detail.

Best thing is that it is laminated and doesn't tear like the paper maps. I have used these maps before. While they do not do tiny street by tiny street they can get you in a general area that you can navigate quite easily. I use sharpies to write on them and erase with hairspray when I am done or ready for the next day. I always try to get one for my trips. I now haven quite a collection of them.

I love the indestructability of the streetwise maps. The map was great, but not really needed after the first day or two. Kauai is not Paris. Foolish me. The maps you can pick up at the airport for free work fine. I imagine it will be more useful in Honolulu.

The item arrived on time and was what I wanted. Use it when I was there.

We are in Hawaii as I write this and this is the map we are hauling around Sometimes you want a map,not your Garmin GPS or your phone. This is laminated and the lamination is holding up to wear and water. I hope they have this for other islands when we visit elsewhere next year.

When I order it I thought it was a more detailed map. I thouth Streetwise means that - but I was mistaken - my English could be better. But I think can have some benefits of the map when I am going to Hawaii soon.

I misunderstood when I bought this and thought it had detailed street maps for Maui, but it doesn't. The Maui map is more high-lelvel all of the island with just major roads. The high detail map is of downtown Honolulu/WiKiKi area and it looks good, but that isn't where we are going. So while it didn't work for my purpose, it might work for others.
