I was resistant to soaking his hooves because I thought he would react poorly to being in soaking boot bags. He wasn't a huge fan of being in a boot bag, but he got on board really quickly. This stuff is the reason that I am finally healing him of his thrush. It's easy to mix and works incredibly well. I soak his feet once a week and then treat him with topicals on the other days. His collateral grooves are FINALLY able to start healing. I can see the bottom of those grooves again! His frog is healing and the heal crack is healing too. I still think you should do topicals in between soaks, but the soak by far has had the most significant impact on his healing. Then I pour it into a diaper (size 2), it fully saturates the lining. On a really clean foot I put the diaper on and then wrap the whole thing in a quarter of a heavy duty trash bag (the kind you get at a hardware store) and duck tape the whole thing at the pastern. I let him stand in his stall which is more padded and throw a flake of hay. My new vet mentioned this stuff so I tried it and within two months the battle was won!! I did purchase soaking booties in my horse’s size after going through many many plastic bags! My horse even put holes in the extra think IV bags I got from my vet so the soaking boots were a necessity. Follow the directions carefully. My vet told me that the combo of the white vinegar and white lightening creates a gas that gets in to destroy the fungus so to wrap plastic wrap or vet wrap around the top of the soaking boot and then tape it shut to keep the liquid and gas in to do its work.
