Today Sponge Vaginal Birth Control, Green, 3 Count

Just got off of the pill, prior to that I had the Mirena IUD. I had the IUD removed because I felt agitated all the time and flew off the handle so quickly. My daughter had just turned a year old when I had it removed. I was off of it for about 3 months before starting on the pill. My husband was deployed during the time in between so I had the luxury of not needing any birth control. Anyhow, I started the pill because my hubby was due back the following month. I started to feel the same way, angry, no patience. So I decided to stop that and due to my age I didn't want to try anymore hormonal birth control. So I started researching and came across the sponge. I decided to give it a try. I love the fact that it starts working immediately and there is no limit to the number of times we can have sex over a full 24 hours. You can leave it in for 30 hours total, but must leave it in 6 hours post sex, per the instructions. I'm not a sex fiend, I just think it's wasting a whole sponge to only use it once. I've used two of the three sponges and my husband had no clue there was anything inserted. I've used the films of spermicide in the past. I like them and will use them here and there, but you have to wait 15 minutes before having sex it's only good for 3 hours and one act of sex. I like that the sponge offers more protection than just the spermicide, too. In that it blocks the sperm from entering your cervix.Like I said, I've used the films before and those need to be placed at the cervix as well, I've also used the Nuva ring in the past and use soft cups during my period so I'm very comfortable with placing products at the opening of my cervix. For me this product is easy to insert. However, it does dry me out initially after placing. Just FYI if you plan to have intercourse immediately after.Removing. I had one perfect experience and the other not so much. The first time, I reached in and found the band right away, simple removal. The second time, I'm not sure if I pushed the sponge back too far by accident when I went to reach the band, but the band ended up being really far back and almost flipped over. It must have taken me about 5 minutes to finally manipulate the sponge and bear down enough to loop the band on my finger. Not fun!!!!! Will definitely be sure to check for band immediately after insertion, next time, just in case.I will continue to use these sponges as my first choice for birth control. I strongly recommend them. About to reorder, and probably just set up prime pantry delivery so I'm never out!!

Seems to be an effective product, since I didn't wind up pregnant.My first use didn't have any issues and left it in place for the recommended time. And, much to my surprise, my partner did not mention feeling it. To me, it does feel like my other internal lady parts.My second use was a bit different. It felt like I got it into the same position as the first but about 4 hours later, after you know what, I got a mild burning and some pretty intense pelvic cramping. To the point I had to pull it out. I don't know if was because of my cramping but I couldn't get to the finger loop. After several minutes and forcing myself to lay down and relax on the floor, I got it out.I was nervous about using the third sponge but I had no issues.I would definitely use this product again.

I didn't like this item. It looks really big when you open the package. In big I mean wide. I am used to using tampons with a plastic tube for inserting it. Tampons go right in. This sponge needs to be folded (the first one starting tearing when I wet it and fold it) it was still hard to insert and even harder to tell if I had it in the right position. When you run water on it the sponge does foam up and activate the spermicide. That stuff made my whole area tingle and feel weird. After sex I wanted to take it out and clean myself down there but it had to stay in for the recommended 6 hours. By the time 6 hours is up your body adjusts to it but it still felt extra wet down there to me. it was foamy and a little itchy. After I took the second one I used out I had strange discharge. I had a lot more discharge than what I would have normally. I was concerned about it so I looked online at side effects from the sponge and it is very common to have discharge as a side effect. I guess I am allergic to them. On some website the women described a green tint to the discharge. The first few days I had clear, then yellow, slightly green and then clear before it went away. I was horrified. I was at home with a newborn trying to rekindle the romance and then had to explain to my love that I had a disgusting fluid coming out of me and that it had nothing to do with the pregnancy I was recovering from. I was beyond disappointed. We both don't like condoms but I won't be using the last sponge. I called my doctor and got prescribed Camilla. That has its own set of side effects but it's a lot more pleasant than the sponge.

Does what it says and does it well !. We had no problems fitting or removing item and stayed in place all night

For short term contraception and used correctly, very efficient, would use again.

Easy to insert, easy to remove, very comfortable. On removal the sponge does tend to tear - I suppose this ensures people have to buy them again, rather than washing and re-using with spermicide gel. Quite pricey so good job I'm not having that much sex!

One of the boxes was faulty - all three sponges were broken through the middle so didn't dare using them. Not sure how the refund works on amazon so didn't ask for one, but I'm shocked how this product even passed the quality control!
