WiFi 6E Mini PCIe Card Tri-Band 5400Mbps BT5.3 Laptop Upgrade

Bought this to attempt to upgrade my old HP pavilion laptop model # 15-n225nr from the factory RTL8188EE chip. With newer routers working mostly off of 5-6ghz the old 2.4ghz chip just wasn't keeping up. Tested speeds from my Kitchen table before and after the swap, saw a 1500% (yes that's right, 1500) increase in download speed. Added Bluetooth capability is a bonus as well, as this laptop never had Bluetooth connectivity. This one upgrade has given this old laptop a completely new lease on life. With my current operation system being Kubuntu Linux, the chip was plug and play, I didn't install any software or have to edit or change anything. I plugged it in, powered it up, and wifi/Bluetooth was working immediately. Would definitely recommend this for anyone with a similar setup as me. I should have bought this years ago.

As a traditional 2.4 gHz and 5 gHz wi-fi card, it works to perfection, and it's very low cost. I don't have a 6 or 6E 6 gHz access point, so I don't have a way to judge it's performance in the band where transfer rate is highest. I will have a 6E access point in a few months, and I intend to update this review at that time. Signal strength is better than the 14-year-old Intel wi-fi half mini-sata card it replaced. Although I had downloaded BT and wifi AX-210 drivers before replacing the card, I did not execute them. The card found whatever drivers it needed. Bluetooth works perfectly. The old card was BT 4.0, so this card brings an improvement. The upgrade was quick and painless. My DQ77KB motherboard interface used the half-mini-pcie version, and the new unit was completely compatible. Highly recommended.

Exactly what I was looking for. I purchased this item to replace the old 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi card on my very old laptop which lacked Bluetooth functionality, had the tendency to disconnect from my Wi-Fi network in the past, and was slow. It now connects to 5GHz Wi-Fi networks and has Bluetooth functionality built in! My laptop recognized it and after installing both the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth drivers, I had no issues related to functionality regarding to Wi-Fi. I ran a Speedtest and got a decent speed on my 5GHz Wi-Fi router, which was way faster than the old Wi-Fi card in my laptop. I haven't fully tested the Bluetooth functionality, I noticed that it connects to Bluetooth devices, but there is a minor lag when using the Bluetooth device (tested with a Bluetooth mouse), and it doesn't wake up from sleep from a Bluetooth device—this is not a big deal for me and it likely has to do with the age of my laptop, its BIOS limitations, and since the system I installed this card was originally designed to support Wi-Fi capability only. I've installed this Wi-Fi card on an ASUS X552EA-DH42 laptop which I've had since 2015.

I’ve used these twice when I upgraded older laptops to Linux and the Linux driver had issues with the stock Broadcom WiFi cards. The upgraded Bluetooth is nice little extra. Popped these and worked like a champ. Be careful with the connectors they’re tiny. :0) Just make sure you need the mini pci-e style card. Make sure the card you’re replacing has the two screw locations and not just one in the middle of the edge. Also to note currently there are no drivers for windows 7 that I can find at all so if you want to dual boot to windows 7 currently you won’t have WiFi in windows 7. That’s the only downside I’ve found so far, but honestly I wouldn’t be going to the internet on windows 7 anyways.

I was hesitant to buy a new WiFi card for my now 11 year old HP laptop, due to research on HP forums. Some people claimed(even this listing) that I would have to rewrite my BIOS because they whitelist WiFi cards. I pulled the trigger on this and it worked great! I have an older laptop (HP 15-n229nr) and when I updated to Windows 10, I completely lost the ability to use Bluetooth. I also could not stream 1080p on YouTube even with an Asus router and 1GB internet. My original card was a WiFi 4 Ralink RT-3290 with Bluetooth built in. I carefully swapped the card and booted up the laptop. The laptop didn’t recognize the card, so I had to plug into my router and download the drivers. It would be best to download the drivers beforehand, but this way wasn’t hard either. If you Google “Intel WiFi 6E AX211 driver” you’ll see a link to Intel’s website. You can download the Bluetooth and Wireless WiFi drivers for your application. There’s another review linking to some Chinese product website, but I find it best to get the drivers directly from Intel. As of typing this review, the drivers were updated April 29, 2025. After the drivers downloaded, I connected to the internet over WiFi. My streaming speed vastly improved, and now I have functioning Bluetooth again. I highly recommend this WiFi card!

Why did you pick this product vs others?: I like the tech specs and the extra of a screw driver and screws. Ease of installation: Installation on an old Dell Inspiron 15 3542 was incredibly easy. Wireless connectivity: The speed upgrade was phenomenal. I run the latest stable version of Ubuntu on this system, and the OS instantly recognized the new card. The original equipment wi-fi card only support 2.4G connectivity with an average of around 20-40 Mbps download and now is near-screaming at nearly 400 Mbps with 5G connectivity. I don't have a 6G connectivity option at this point, but I imagine it, too, would meet or exceed my expectations. I can't be more pleased (at this point) with difference in performance for this old laptop with this new wireless card.

Do not purchase this FAKE card. The card was tested under new full Windows 10 Pro 22H2 install with updates dated 1/4/2025 19045.5247 & Full fresh install of Windows 11 Pro 23H2 with correct updates dated 1/20/2024. Both operating systems would load default drivers for an Intel AC-7260. Intel® Driver & Support Assistant (Intel® DSA) reports the correct drivers installed as AC-7260. Removing all device drivers, turning off NIC, deleting from device manager and rebooting with device OFF to force the Intel® Wireless Wi-Fi Drivers for Windows® 10 and Windows 11* 12/17/2024 to install results in device manager show "This device cannot start (Code 10)" after the NIC is reenabled. Windows 11 device manager show this device as PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_08B1&SUBSYS_50708086&REV_CB (Intel AC-7260). On one side of the packaging it shows the device as supporing AC on the other AX.

Got this to upgrade from the OEM wifi card on my libre'd T400, p9700, 8gb RAM. Easy enough to install, but I couldn't get it to work at all on ElementaryOS, even with correct drivers. Turns out it needs 5.12+ Linux kernel for plug-n-play. (I now use Arch btw). Other than that didn't have too many issues, but wasn't getting much better speed than the OEM card. I found a fine tuning tips blog for Linux mint on older machines that suggested some changes to the wifi chipset options. I went from ~90Mbps to now getting 150-200Mbps consistently. "Driver iwlwifi: toggle some options 2.4. When you have an Intel WiFi chipset which is not too ancient, it runs on the iwlwifi driver (old Intel chipsets might use the iwlegacy driver or the ipw200 driver). In some cases the iwlwifi driver performs better when certain options are toggled. You can achieve that as follows: First check whether your WiFi chipset actually runs on the iwlwifi driver: a. Launch a terminal window. (You can launch a terminal window like this: *Click*) b. Use copy/paste to transfer this line into the terminal: lsmod | grep iwlwifi Press Enter. Does the terminal output contain the word iwlwifi (in red letters)? If so, proceed with the next step. c. Copy/paste the following blue command line into the terminal (this is one long line, don't chop it up!): echo "options iwlwifi bt_coex_active=0 swcrypto=1 11n_disable=8" | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi-3options.conf Press Enter. Type your password when prompted. In Ubuntu this remains entirely invisible, not even dots will show when you type it, that's normal. Press Enter again. Hereby you achieve three things: - With bt_coex_active=0 you disable the Bluetooth feature of the WiFi chipset, which sometimes interferes; - With swcrypto=1 you shift the signal encryption from the hardware (WiFi chipset) to the software, thus taking some load off the WiFi chipset; - With 11n_disable=8 you enable antenna aggregation (Tx AMPDU). Don't be confused because of the option name 11n_disable: when its value is set to 8 it does not disable anything, but enables transmission antenna aggregation (Tx AMPDU). d. Reboot your computer. e. No improvement? Then undo this hack by removing the file that contains the toggled options, with this terminal command: sudo rm -v /etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi-3options.conf Then reboot your computer, and all should be as it was before."

Until now my blutooth won't even work and I keep on removing it whenever I restart my hp laptop.
