Big Fat Book of Egyptian Arabic Verbs

Awesome, excellent book with two extremely minor complaints.
Thank you so much, Matthew, for making this book available to all learners of Egyptian Arabic! I cannot thank you enough. As if your "Egyptian Colloquial Arabic Verbs: Conjugation Tables and Grammar" book and the exercise book from 2012 weren't enough, you came out with another great masterpiece. (I have ordered the other two books but haven't received them which is why I'm only able to review on this one.) Honestly, I don't think anyone has written a book (in any language) so detailed on Egyptian Arabic verbs, their conjugations in all tenses with plenty of real-life examples *and* audio files.I have two minor complaints but they're very very minor.1) I feel that the male speaker who reads the examples speaks a bit too fast. I'm sure it's actually just the normal speed for natives but just a little too fast with lots of reduced sounds in the colloquial language. If you're in Egypt and get to hear Arabic everyday, I don't think this should be an issue but for me, he was way too fast. I'm sure I'd eventually have to get used to it.2) The long vowel 'a' in Egyptian Colloquial Arabic can either sound like "ah" as in "father" (in the verb "to go" = raaH) or it can also sound like something between "e" as in "egg" and "a" as in "apple" (in the verb "to drive" = saa2) but in this book it's simply written as ā (small letter "a" with a bar over it) which can cause mispronunciation if you don't have a native tutor or don't get to hear Arabic often.Great awesome book, I love it!

Definite must-buy if you're learning Egyptian Arabic!
Buy the electronic version. I can imagine finding the right verb quickly in print form might be frustrating, so I'd only do that if you're in a position where using a laptop is not possible. Doing searches on your laptop will be much faster. Here's what makes this book amazing:* Hundreds of verbs, with full verb tables, for a spoken language. That's amazing by itself - spoken languages are so poorly documented that it's amazing this one is.* Example sentences showing all the way you can use a verb. And if you use the electronic version (you should), you can search to find words for your verb that you might find under other verbs.* Recorded audio to go along with the sentences from the website. Amazing! The detail and accuracy in this book are incredible. Sometimes I think I've found an error, but then realise that it's my understanding that's limited.

this is perfect. Of course
So many verb books give you words that you will never use in a hundred years. This book gives the verbs you will actually use in your day-to-day living. One page has a verb in all the forms you need written in Arabic, transliterated Arabic and with all persons. The facing page has 6 or 7 sentences showing you the use of the verb, again in Arabic, transliterated Arabic and English. If you are learning Egyptian Arabic, this is perfect. Of course, it has no grammar. You need your regular grammar book for study.

Great resource, Arabic is illegibly small
This is just what I needed as far as veeb selection and conjugation tables, and the transliteration is great. Unfortunately, the Arabic type is so small it is illegible -- you literally cannot distinguish whether there are one or two orthographic dots below the consonants unless you take a photo and blow it up; that limits the book's usefulness and I'm taking a star for it.

If you want to learn Egyptian Arabic this book is GOLD!
Incredible book that shows you how to conjugate the verb with pronunciation and also has each verb tense: past, present simple, present continuous, future, imperative and the participle. It also has a page of example sentences in egyptian arabic for each of the 264 most used verbs in egyptian arabic. Great value!

This book is easy to use and thoroughly comprehensive.
This massive dictionary, 264 verbs in common usage in Spoken Egyptian Arabic, is easy to use (no more struggling to work out the root radicals, before you can even begin to look for what you want) each verb is very thoughtfully laid out, including a section for the negative version. Each verb is also accompanied by sentences in Arabic script (slightly enlarged size so can be read at a glance) and some appropriate"sayings" with transliteration and English underneath, so the verb can be seen in context. Extremely useful and well bound too, it stays open when in use without the user needing to wait the pages down !There is connected audio available to accompany the book as well.

COULD HAVE BEEN BETTER
The book is very good. It is in Arabic and in transliteration with its English translation, but they could have written it a little bigger (the parts in Arabic)

This book is gem for Egyptian Colloquial Arabic learners
I have purchased a number of ebook from Lingualism (M.Aldrich) but as for this fat book, I wanted a paper print edition, and I was right. A language book is eternal, you can safely buy it in print. The quality of the print is superb, the content is awesome as always from a Lingualism book. This is actually a conjugation sheet book, but each verb is accompanied with a number of examples with audio files downloadable or on-line listenable from the Lingualism website. The book comes with phonetically precise transcript. Not the typical lousy more-or-less ok-ish romanization used in a number of other books. I am a beginner in Egyptian Arabic, still I found this book of exceptional help as I learn along with Kullu Tamam (my top pick for text book) and Colloquial Arabic of Egypt (J. Wightwick). Forget all other sources: Aldrich, Woidich, Wightwick, these are the names to remember for Egyptian Arabic.

Excellent arabic verb conjugation book
This is a much needed compilation of over 260 Egyptian Arabic verb conjugations (with transliteration for each of them) with one verb per page along with various verb tense/mood examples in the context of a sentence on each page. Once again, an outstanding job by Matthew Aldrich and his group!
