Learn how to add, subtract, multiply, divide and find square roots with this easy to use instruction guide. There are many sample problems with step-by-step instructions. The illustrations make it easy to follow along with the descriptions. Practice and perfect skills as you learn with the numerous practice problems given at the end of each chapter. Review: Excellent instruction book! - Hands down this is the best book I own on soroban. All operations are explained with easy to understand explanations and illustrations. Explanations for multiplication and division is very well written and I was able to make sense of the steps. Instead of labeling the rods as A, B, C, D, etc. book explains in detail why, where and which rod to choose to register answers. These explanation made so much sense to me. Illustrations make it so much more easy to follow the steps and learning has been fun and joyful. I am very glad to know how to add and subtract negative numbers. This is the most valuable addition to my collection of books on soroban. This books speaks to me. PERFECT! Well done SAI Speed Math Academy, thank you very much! Review: Clear and Instructional - I'm an adult learner and this book is straightforward without being too cutesy and child-centered.

Probably the best book out there on Soroban
This is an excellent book, which makes learning soroban pretty easy. My only quibble is that it does not tell you how much you should practice, and there is only 1 page at the very end which discusses "mental abacus". But lots of practice problems, and an intuitive design and good diagrams. I wish it would tell me how to train, what to train on, to become proficient at "mental abacus". But this book only has clear instruction on how to do the operations, not how much to train or how to get there. This book is MUCH better than the old Kojima book, which was quite confusing.

Great soroban abacus book, suitable for adults
Fantastic book about how to use a modern soroban abacus. I bought this book to strengthen my old (68) brain and learn to use the abacus I inherited from mom (turns out hers is a tad different with 5 earth beads). I am hooked, it’s actually fun. I’ve looked at some great books that were clearly written for children. If you already know how to add and subtract, know what combinations of numbers add up to five and 10, and still remember your multiplication table (!), this is the book.

Best book on the soroban
If I could have only one book on the soroban - this would be it. It covers everything - adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, squaring and negative numbers with detailed illustrated and written instructions that are easy to understand and follow. Plus there are hundreds of practice problems - with the answers in the back. This is by far, the best book on how to use the soroban I have seen. Thank you SAI Speed Math Academy.

Decent Soroban book, but kindle version annoying.
The diagrams of the beads are very helpful, there are plenty of nice exercises of each topic, and the organization of the book is good. The kindle version however has some major issues that make it very annoying to read. Several sections were duplicated verbatim in the kindle version repeating exactly the same material twice. This was very confusing and I had to tabulate where I was in the book with the table of contents very carefully. Also, several of the pages are sideways. That's very annoying if you are using Kindle for PC (where there is no option to rotate the pages.)

Pessimo.
