Sort of worked
I had a mouse problem and bought these to put in areas where they were coming in. My spice drawer and my lazy susan cabinet where they were shredding anything in a box. I transferred everything to glass sealed containers and put these there. It helped but didn't eliminate altogether. I have found that sometimes this works and sometimes it doesn't. I believe it did eliminate the entry under the sink where they were coming in.I ended up trapping the mice and leaving these balls where I placed them. No new mice have come in. So maybe they are working to prevent new mice from coming in.

Working so far!
I have had these out for a week and not a squeak! I live in a small to medium sized apartment building in the NYC area and have had an ongoing issue with mice (I even had a rat once) for 10 years. It comes and goes but is the worst when it is very cold or very hot when they come in for shelter. I and other tenants have addressed this many times with the super; the last time I brought this to his attention (they were literally living underneath the top of my oven) he shrugged his shoulders and said there was nothing he could do, he had glue traps in the basement but they avoided them. That was it I called 311 and filed a complaint with the city. In the meantime I ordered these. I love the peppermint aroma but apparently the mice don't! I have a more complex problem because the previous tenant in my apartment who moved down the hall used to feed them! He thought they were cute and would play with them! AAaarggghhhh!!!! So I'm thinking that there are permanent little tunnels all leading to my apartment and when I plug up a hole, they chew another one, they are very loyal, once they like a place, that's it. But thankfully I seem to have some peace now. I even left a bag of bird seed out and it is untouched. Thank you!

Definitely work (3m so far), scent very strong at first
3m update:Definitely impressed, after fighting a major, recurring mouse problem for ages, haven't seen a trace since I put these out. The initial scent is VERY strong at first, hw it faded in 2-3 weeks (to be fair, I *did* put out 6 at once in a relatively small space). Plan is to start replacing a couple each month even bf they're used up to rotate them out so that there are only 1-2 'fresh' ones at a time, and not overwhelming, but none more than 6m old and getting ineffective. Given how much I've spent on exterminators and such, $200 or so on these a year is a bargain.Original review:PRO: I don't think I've seen a mouse since I opened them, and I've had a chronic, ongoing problem that poison, traps, exterminator can't seem to solve. Ordered 12 and put out 6 initially - 4 in kitchen where they come up from basement, 2 in adjacent rooms they explore. Thought is to put more downstairs once I've got them cleared out of the upper level. (they come in somewhere in the basement that we can NOT seem to find/close up...)CON: DEAR GOD ARE THEY STRONG. First few days was almost intolerably strong - a week later it's noticeable when you walk in but not overpowering.

Where’s the usual strong odor?
We’ve used these in the past and they worked great but you could hardly breathe they were so strong. This batch doesn’t smell hardly at all? What gives for almost 40 bucks?

Seems like it might work
Seems like it might work. Just haven't tried it yet.

Ehhh... Not Thrilled, but not awful
Okay, 3 stars because:Cons:1) Very Pricey for what they are2) They don't always "right" themselves when bumped. I don't know why they didn't just give them a flat bottom...would have been much better that wayPros:1) They are full of peppermint and have little wicks. Will be easy to refill them...with peppermint oil I purchase...2) I believe that peppermint old does repel mice, but the trick is to keep it ever present in the area, these should last a while before needing to be refilled.Would I buy again? No. --Too pricey. And bad design...

It works, somewhat.
I like that it keeps the oil in place and I don't have to use the seedy repellants that make a mess. However, we must have some tough mice because these repellants only work for a few weeks and the mice came right back. So, value for the money goes waaaaaay down. As for ease of use, that was fun, figuring out how to wick the oil. I wish these little balls were much bigger.

They seem to do the job.
