Accent On: The Celestial Series Paperback – September 2, 2002

So far I've purchased two of Karen DeSousa's beaded ornament cover books, and I love them both. The Celestial Series includes 4 patterns that are variations on a theme (just like the cover says). The basic themes all of the patterns have in common are the netted cap for the top section of the ornament, and the belly band of the ornament, which the author calls "Orion's Belt". The belly band is done in right-angle weave. The rest of the elements for each of the patterns vary, with either a netted "skirt", fringe, swag and fringe, or an entirely netted closure for the lower half of the ornament. The pictures and patterns are clear and easy to follow. The author includes helpful hints, and an entire page of how to finish an entirely closed ornament cover so that if the ornament breaks, all of the beading won't fall apart, as well as instructions for what to do if a totally enclosed ornament DOES break. I usually use the fake glass pastic ornaments, so I don't have this problem, but if I ever use glass ornaments, this book will be very helpful. These are gorgeous ornaments, and I love it that the author includes alternate pictures and instructions for some of the ornaments, so that more adventurous beaders will be inspired to use alternate beads and colors to make these ornaments uniquely their own.

these also are fantastic ornaments. the book shows how to construct the draps in such a way that my youngest students are havi;ng no difficulty at all.

This is a book for those who love to work with beads and love a detailed challenge to go with it. These ornaments are no less than gorgeous!!

This book of patterns is okay.

LOVE these books...The ornaments are beautiful. The instructions are very easy to follow. Give great ideas that can be expanded on.

I love this book, I have made one ornament Just love the book, very clear directions. I would recommend this book.

I made only 2 ornament covers so far. They turned out quite lovely. They take time to make but it's worth it. I plan on making more this year for gifts. Highly recommend this leaflet.
