Tommy, the former Green Ranger, is coming home, and the other rangers are planning a surprise party for him. But the evil Lord Zedd has other ideas. He unleashes his most deadly monster yet -- the Scarlet Sentinel -- and no amount of morphing or Mega Zord action can stop it. To make matters worse, Lord Zedd's dreaded wife, Rita Repulsa, is on the war path, and Zordon and Alpha have disappeared. It looks like the end of the Rangers when the mysterious White Ranger appears to help them. But who is he and can he be trusted? Does this mean Tommy is off the team for good? And does the White Ranger have the right stuff to save the day? This colossal collection features two back-to-back classic episodes from the original MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS -- the series that launched "Power Mania." Packed with Mega Morphin Action, marauding monsters, and edge-of-your-seat suspense -- it's white hot!

The Debut of the White Ranger and the Return of an Old Friend - Setting the Bar High for Rangers to Come!
The Power Rangers franchise is, arguably, one of the most successful 90s children's television series that has endured right through to the present day. It has provided countless generations of children and big kids alike with a world of whimsical characters and relatable heroes who fight a never-ending army of villains who are bent on world-domination, whether they are witches, sorcerers, demons or alien conquerors from other worlds. From 1993 onwards, Haim Saban, of Saban Entertainment, has adapted the Japanese superhero tokusatsu series of Super Sentai into the continuing Power Rangers phenomenon. The episodes presented on this VHS form part of the 'Power Playback' series of VHS releases from Saban Entertainment, and were originally broadcast as episodes 17-18 of the second season of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, which was respectively adapted from the seventeenth instalment of the Japanese Super Sentai series, Gosei Sentai Dairanger, on the 17-18th October 1994 on Fox's 'Fox Kids' programming block. Regarded as a fan-favourite two parter, 'White Light' parts 1&2 were written by Shuki Levy and Shell Danielson and directed by Jonathan Tzachor, introducing the new white ranger to the team, whose identity is subsequently revealed to be Tommy Oliver, the former green ranger whose powers were inevitably lost to evil forces. Initially, having learnt that Zordon and Alpha were creating a new ranger, the five core members of the team are a little apprehensive. However, after revealing Tommy as the new team leader taking over from Jason, harmony is ultimately restored and a new chapter begins for the rangers' fight against evil. The Scarlet Sentinel, along with her twin siblings A.C and D.C, is the monster of the week for this saga; Lord Zedd having created her from Angel Grove Park's sentinel statue in order to somehow retrieve the green ranger powers for himself after sensing a fluctuation of power in the morphing grid (due to the creation of the new white ranger).Bringing the character of Tommy back proved to be a great success and he is now regarded as the ultimate veteran ranger, having led many other ranger teams, and appearing in more subsequent installments of the show than any other ranger, including the tenth anniversary episode 'Forever Red' and as the mentor to the dino rangers in 'Power Rangers Dino Thunder', amongst other cameo appearances. The episodes on this video have also been released in 1996 under the title of 'The White Light Saga', as part of the 'Power Rangers All-Time Favourites' series of VHS releases. Additionally, in 2003, Buena Vista Home Entertainment released them in their tenth-anniversary compilation of fan-favourite episodes, 'The Best of Power Rangers: The Ultimate Rangers' on VHS and DVD. The DVD episodes were digitally remastered and were the first time that early fan-picked episodes of Power Rangers were presented on DVD format, until Shout! Factory started releasing the show in seasonal box-sets starting in 2012.As two standalone episodes, the 'White Light' saga is an important turning point in the Power Rangers universe, bringing more Dairanger footage to the show and setting the stage for seasons to come with Tommy as a regular cast member, as well as providing Jason David Frank with a lifelong career and loyal fan-base that is as strong as ever.

Tommy returns to kick some ass.
I remember seeing this on television when it first aired. Loved it then and still love it now. Also, why is Jason Faunt and Kevin Kleinberg listed as actors in this video? They weren't Power Rangers until season 9 (Time Force) and this is from season 2 (Mighty Morphin).
