I love this Overbed table
I love this Overbed table. I bought it at the end of last year after having previously had a standard hospital type overbed table which fit over one side but required that the underbed support go too far getting in the way of boxes of out of season clothing and sweaters that I keep under the bed. The DLine overbed table has no such problem, in fact it goes across the whole bed and glides up and down the bed as needed. I use it for my laptop computer, books that I'm reading, and other things like note pads, tea cups, water, and even breakfast in bed with lots of spare room for whatever other clutter I might need at the time. In my case, I'm a widow and a grandma and when my grandchildren come to visit we can all have breakfast in bed together; otherwise I love to stream movies or tv shows on my computer and can sit up or lie down depending on my mood. On the other hand, in the day time, it's easy to slide it down the bed to make the bed and tidy the room and it looks great in the room.I had one problem which turned out to be easy to resolve. Running it over a bedside rug on one side and the wood floor on the other, two of the wheels broke. I was having a problem finding the right replacement wheels and contacted DLine on Amazon who were amazingly helpful and fair. They sent me a full set of new wheels at no charge, the two broken ones are now replaced and I have spares for a possible future problem which I don't expect and will explain why. I had a bedside rug on one side of the bed and wood floor on the other which may have caused the problem so I bought one of those clear mats they put under office chairs, cut it in half and put one each side (you don't even notice them) and the new wheels glide over them like a dream.I'm so glad I found this one of a kind overbed table and between DLine and Amazon it has made a world of difference for me.

I really want to like it, but...
So, I have to review this thing only because assembling it was such a unique experience.I bought it, because I'm a writer, who -- strangely -- tends to do her best writing, while lying in bed, and I was tired of the constant neck and shoulder pain of poor ergonomics. I tried the small, tray style stands, but they always had their downsides. IKEA used to sell an over bed table --which put the idea in my head -- although the price-tag was kind of ridiculous for what it was. I'd been planning to build my own and maybe should have gone that direction, but being in the middle of a book project, I decided buying this might be the the easiest and fastest solution and I thought being able to adjust the height might be a nice feature that I wouldn't be able to easily construct on my own.First off, it's not an unattractive product. I really like the white metal, paired with light wood grain, it really works with my bedding and decor. Definitely an upside. Although the back and sides of the top desk portion are connected with cheap plastic anchors that the manufacturer made no attempt to hide. And by that I mean, you see them, when you sit at the desk, The wood grain is a veneer applied over particle board, and while mine is in fairly good shape, it's visibly frayed along the bottom edge of the back piece of wood.As I said, I decided to purchase the product in part, because it allows you to adjust the height of the desk and I -- obviously -- wanted something that would put the monitor/laptop screen at eye level. But, even adjusted to the highest height setting, it barely clears my thighs.. Now, maybe my bed is extra high, but all I have is a mattress and box spring, so...unless I get some sort of low, platform bed, being able to adjust the height does me no good and I'm probably going to have to come up with a work around to raise it up a bit more. And, while I'm at it, I'm probably going to have to switch out the casters as the wheels provided aren't exactly gliding over my carpet. Now, re: assembly....for the record, I'm pretty good at putting things together. And I got this thing together in less than a half an hour, ten minutes of which was spent trying to find a nut that I ultimately realized was inside the desk. The directions are useless. If you can follow them -- and that's a big if -- you shouldn't. They urge you to attach the upper portion of the legs to the desktop before applying the bottom part it slides into....don't do this. I did it this way for the first set of legs, and yes, that's how the nut ended up inside the desk. Since it's hard to get the desk uppers perfectly parallel, it took more than a few tries to slide the bottom part into place. It would get stuck, the plastic parts that you weren't supposed to remove would come off and then the nuts would fall into the legs. They also give you no way to see the the holes to adjust the height, which made this method of assembly even more challenging. So...if you buy the thing and put it together, I strongly urge you to assemble the sides before you slide them into the desk top. I did this for the second side and it took a fraction of the time and frustration. The manufacturer includes tools, a screwdriver and wrench, for assembly, which is always nice. Although, they included a flathead screwdriver for phillips head screws, and, I still needed my drill to assemble the product. Seriously. The plastic leg insets weren't predrilled for the adjuster screws. This wasn't just a defect on my product, the instructions indicated that you need to drill the hole yourself. They picture someone making the hole with the included screwdriver, but again, they included a flat head screwdriver, which -- of course -- doesn't have a pointy tip, and, in this case, was too wide to fit through the hole to reach the piece of plastic that needed to be drilled. So -- to restate -- they included tools, presumably so someone without a basic wrench and screwdriver could put the thing together, but didn't pre-drill a seres of holes, thus necessitating a power tool to complete assembly. This was a first for me.Beyond, these issues, the back and side portion of the desk are flimsily assembled and only attached with two screws on either side, which means the long portion that sits across the back isn't tacked down and actually moves when you apply pressure to it. This strikes me as a potential problem, given that it's meant as a backstop. And by t=hat I mean, if something were to hit that backstop with any amount of force, I'm pretty sure it would snap, so I should probably figure out how to secure that too.Anyway, the desk looks pretty nice and will probably get the job I need it to do done (with a few adjustments), but in truth, I'm keeping it only because it would be too much of a hassle to send back. Otherwise I think I could build something better/sturdier for a lot less money,

Helped my disabled immobile daily life SO much!Love it!
I am disabled(left side paralyzed)& spend my days moving between my power recliner lift chairchair & my extralongtwin size adjustable hospital bed.My caregivers move the table over my power lift chair several times a day-I was using other tables at my bed, but the style with one leg support doesn't work under my recliner. the U shape of this table is perfect! I have it at shortest width [twin size bed]so fits over chair about 36" wide easily with room[about a foot] on either side. I have room to work with projects like using a computer scanner along with laptop, but mostly I eat my meals at this table. The biggest plus is the wheels allow even the"wimpiest" of my caregivers to easily move the table around room. It is easily adjustable, height& width wise! and if caregiver puts too close over me it moves easily enough that I can push itawaymyself with my one good foot. [My floor is low-pile carpet] This table has replaced 2 of my regular hospital-style tables[moving between recliner& bed I also like the back& side boards. I plan to put some bookends & keep some books on it, assuming doesn't get too weighty to move easily[I don't think it will-it's very sturdy!] also the round cord holes in end sideboards are very convenient& helps with organizing& keeping things neat. My only negative comment: the surface is not as protected as having a good poly- coated top- a bit porous, but easily fixed with placemats. also easily scratched, but I put felt on underside of my wicker tray that my food comes onto protectit. I wouldn't want to risk liquids spilling on table top it, because does not seem easy to wipe up&I like to keep my things nice& this is getting heavy daily use.It looks shiny online, but really doesn't have a great top coat[I have the light colored one- next time would get darker one] But overall I love this table! It does take a little more room than needed if using just with a recliner. I'd suggest measuring carefully if space is tight.I Love the extra room myself, but have a good foot of free space on either side of recliner.Just perfect over the twin size bed!Thank you!
