The Tarot Coloring Book

I am simply delighted with this book
I am simply delighted with this book! The Tarot Coloring Book by Theresa Reed is a wonderful concept - hands on learning through the fun medium of coloring. Since I enjoy both the tarot and coloring I knew this book would be for me & I was right. There is so much to love about this book that I’ll be reviewing it from two different perspectives: first as a tarot learning tool & also as a fun and creative coloring book. This book is perfect for those new to tarot. The author breaks down the sometimes daunting task of learning the meaning of each card into easy to handle pieces. She avoids the mystical babble and brings it down to earth & keeps it real with a relaxed narrative style I love. Add to that the concept of coloring as a learning tool & you’ve got a winning combination for success. But it’s not just for those new to tarot. I am thrilled at how useful (and fun!) it has already been for me as an experienced tarot reader. The meditative act of coloring the cards has already helped me to connect with them on a deeper level and to rediscover details & qualities I’d begun to overlook. I am particularly intrigued with using this book to explore those few cards that I’ve never connected with & almost dread coming across in a reading and to “make friends” with them.If you love adult coloring books, you must give this one a try. It’s a good size (8 1/2 x 11), is spiral bound so it lays flat and is printed on good quality paper. I think you’ll find the imagery of the tarot a compelling subject. The images themselves are lovely & quite large and are set off by a wonderful grayscale border. As with most coloring books, colored pencils and gel pens are my preferred media and they work beautifully on this paper. I may try a adding touch of sparkle using my Finetec gold watercolors. There is also plenty of space to add your own personality with scrapbooking techniques on the text pages. So whether you are new to tarot, interested in deepening your tarot practice or looking for a new and exciting coloring adventure I highly recommend this book.

Explore the depths of yourself with fun and relaxation! Wonderful large images, lies flat, and can handle water-based mediums.
I purchased this coloring book almost a year ago, and have been slowly working my way through each page. I can't sing enough praises about the setup of this book. But first let's talk about the technicalities of the book. I'm an adult coloring book enthusiast, and I probably own at least 20 coloring books at this point. In buying and trying many coloring books, I always look for coloring books that can handle a slightly wet medium. My medium of choice is watercolor pencils and watercolor markers. This coloring book holds up to the challenge! The paper only slightly buckles, even with a heavy load of water on the page–it doesn't spread to the page underneath. Always a good idea to put some card underneath the page, especially if you're using alcohol based markers. After it dried, I then shut the book, and put a bunch of heavy books on top. The page almost returned back to normal (as you can see from my attached image). The paper holds up well! Now, onto the setup that Theresa lays out. If you're just a beginner, you'll find the book is insightful to help you begin seeing interpretations and signs from the images in the cards. There is no greater way to learn tarot, than to just meditate on and study the images themselves. Our subconscious communicates in symbols, not words! So when you study images, you're speaking to yourself at a much deeper level–past the threshold and barrier of your conscious mind. This, in and of itself, is extremely powerful just for self development and discovery, let alone learning how to read tarot for others. (Gotta start with you first!)If you're intermediate or advanced, I'd still get the book as you see a LOT of details you otherwise miss (even with the largest sized Ryder-Waite deck you can buy). For instance, in the image I've attached, you can see that one of the arms of the chair for the King of Cups has a cup chiseled into the stone, also swimming in chiseled waves. In the original this is almost entirely obscured, because it's one color and a small detail. But think... The King is holding his sceptre in the left hand, which rests on the arm of the stone chair which has a cup chiseled into the stone, floating on chiseled waves. What could this mean? Is this a deeper microcosm that signifies the King finding his sense of rulership and vision from the deep well of his intuition, which rides the waves of his inner feelings and depths, buoyed by their power? Certainly this is one way to interpret it, and probably the most common one. But have you ever SEEN that part of the image, specifically, in your card deck? It's quite small in my deck, and the chair is all one color, so I didn't particularly take notice of it (perhaps I'm blind or lazy? but I believe some others may also have the same experience). In this way, I find the book to be invaluable.Between Theresa's threads of guidance (which are far from overbearing or preachy, but rather more like seeds you can follow), and the much larger images, you get a deeper meditation on the card itself, and the hidden meanings and signs you might otherwise miss. Then Theresa goes up and beyond just talking about the cards, and gives basic instructions for doing spreads in the back. For someone who is new (or someone just looking to brush up), this is a great starter kit.I love taking this out a few times a week, and choosing a card from my daily pulls that has shown up repeatedly, and meditating on it for an hour or so, while I color. It's both relaxing and enlightening. And as I said, the quality of the book is superb for any hyper-creatives or perfectionists out there.Consider this an investment in yourself, and grab yourself a copy. You won't regret it!

Excellent Resource
Not only are there descriptions on each page, but this book provides quick interpretations and thoughts on symbolism. It is very thorough and made of good-quality paper. It's on the larger size (8.5x11 inches). Perfect for coloring.

A great coloring book and guide in one.
I love my new Tarot coloring book, but what I really enjoy is the detailed description of each card. These include the reversed or upside-down card, and symbolism of each card. This coloring book is a great way to help you remember your tarot cards, by meditating on each, while you are expressing your creative side. The paper is of a nice quality, but I'd recommend colored pencils or crayons. Markers may bleed through the paper.

Beautiful Tarot Coloring Book
This is a high-quality tarot coloring book. I love the large size and the simple illustrations which makes coloring easier. The tarot coloring book can help you learn the tarot deck and become more connected with the archetype images. I only give it 4 stars because I wish there was a way to easily remove the pages or lay the book flat for easier coloring.

Insightful and Teaches Tarot very well.
Theresa Reed gives you great questions to ask for tarot, the book, although a coloring book, is very insightful and teaches you about the symbolism behind each card. The pictures are quite large in size, but not a bother as you are able to really see each symbol and element in each card which is very helpful when learning tarot. This is an incredible tool for learning and or deepening your connection to the cards.
