Product as described. Works well straight out from the box. Did some verification - it is accurate to well within the mm and the measurements are repeatable down to the 0.01mm as per description. Fairly solid construction. Obviously not sealed for use with chemicals. This works for my intended usage, calibration of saw blades.

This looks like a quality product as it is even verily heavy and not made of cheap plastic and comes in a nice case. Now had I written this review 20 seconds after I tried it out it would have been a one star review. Let me explain why. I turned it on and all was good and did a few test readings on the millimeter scale. I then clicked on Inches and in two seconds it stopped working and the screen was all jumbled and unreadable. I could not even shut it off to do a restart. I contacted customer support via the Amazon.ca chat window and mentioned this issue to the Seller. The seller got back to me and asked me to try a new battery. I also had trouble opening the battery compartment as even with a sharp knife I could not pry it open. So to avoid damage I also asked the Seller exactly on how it opens and they sent me 3 pictures on how it is done. After opening it, I popped in a new LR44 battery and Bingo it worked perfectly. So it was just the battery and it had about 20 seconds of life left when I first got it. I am going to make a jig for it to use in my table saw miter slot to measure the exact distance of the blade on the left and right to make sure it is exactly the same. As as far as I am concerned this digital gauge is the way to go. I might add that the customer support is also fantastic. And yes I would recommend this to a friend or maybe even a stranger.

Turns out the connector for the RS232 is not actually soldered to the PCB. Am going to buy a USB header and solder on to find out if it actually supports the RS232 data. Otherwise have found it to be a repeatable indicator gauge. Found accuracy to be consistent within 0.02mm. Don't let the 0.01mm resolution fool you it doesn't appear to have this level of accuracy.

A remarkably good little unit for the price. I bought it specifically because my analog (mechanical) dial indicator was a poor fit for the cramped space where I had to work on the head of a vintage motorcycle. I 3D printed a small holder for the gauge that could bolt to the studs on a rocker arm cover and place the gauge where it could follow valve lift. Even with causing crankshaft rotation by leaning on the kick starter lever, I got very repeatable measurements adequate to convince me that the pushrods had seated correctly when the head was reinstalled -- which was the whole point of getting this gauge. For the amount of money, plus the fact that this unit came in a hardshell case and had a spare battery with it, I would say it's a winner. I did have to open the back to put the (included) mounting bracket on it, so I got a look at its innards. They're not particularly complex, but they're straight and clean and get the job done.
