Finally, a new "Far Side"
Ever since the classic single-panel comic strip "The Far Side" ended its run, I've been hoping to find a worthy successor. "Brevity" comes close, but I've found it to be somewhat inconsistent. However, "F Minus" is the real deal, and a true treat for all "Far Side" fans looking for a daily dose of offbeat humor."F Minus" has a very good hit-to-miss ratio. There aren't many that will leave you groaning or saying "huh?" As with "The Far Side," you can't read just one... you may find yourself finishing this book in one or two sittings (although it's also perfect for dipping into if you just need something to keep you busy for a few minutes.) Fortunately, there's a second collection available when you've finished this one. Now, lest you think I'm writing this review on the publisher's behalf to pump up sales, I will mention a couple minor complaints: first, the art style, while clear and entertaining, is a bit bland, especially compared to the unique style of "The Far Side." Also, I noticed a couple errors in the captions... a mistake involving the word "its" as opposed to "it's," and a spelling error (on page 121, "parachute" is spelled "parachte", without the "u".) These are of course minor mistakes, but they are distracting and should have been caught by a proofreader. However, these small issues aside, this is a clever, hilarious strip that all fans of "Far Side"-style humor will really enjoy. "F Minus" gets an "A" from me!

One of the best comics in recent times!
A year or two ago, my local newspaper started running the F-Minus daily strip (now if only they'd add it on Sundays). Since then, it has quickly become one of my favorites in the paper. Having come a little late to the F-Minus party, I picked up this book to catch up on past strips. Happily, I can report that I laughed out loud while reading nearly every page. Mr. Carrillo's view of certain situations is priceless, and reminds me a great deal of the old (and dearly beloved) Calvin and Hobbes strip. Even the introduction to this book is hilarious! If you like to laugh, and even if you don't, buy this book. You'll be glad you did.

Wry Humor
Tony Carillon has a wry sense of humor. Each comic is one pane with a quick punchline and adds an absurd twist to ordinary situations. The book makes for easy laughs that help bring some levity to each day.

Needs more college comics
Having spent a few years at Arizona State when F-Minus was run in the campus paper, I've seen pretty much the whole collection. This book is an excellent collection of comics run over the first year of syndication, and it contains some of my favorites. That being said, it needs more of the work Tony did in the ASU newspaper. I'm not sure if there's an issue with the syndication/copyright/whatever that prevents those from being included, but there are only about five pages worth of ASU-era F-Minus comics. Hopefully the rest surface (or have surfaced) somewhere for posterity's sake.

F MINUS gets an A+
This collection of Tony Carrillo's wonderful new comic strip F MINUS shows why he is gaining in popularity across the country. His offbeat humor is both original and right on the money. His Spartan art only complements the humor and makes it a stand out in the current field of The Far Side wannabes in today's newspapers and bookstores. Here's hoping there are many more collections of this laugh out loud strip in the years to come.

Fun for all
I bought this for my 10 year old son who races to get the paper every day to see F Minus. He loved it! His only complaint was there was only one World's Worst Grandpa. We are planning on getting the other one. We would love too see a collection of World's Worst Grandpa's though!

Do not judge against Far Side or Dilbert
Having read (and still re-reading)Calvin and Hobbes, Dilbert, The Far Side, Beau Peep and many more comic strips for years, I surfed for and found F-minus. And, apart from the odd one or two strips, it simply is not funny. I don't want to knock it for the sake of it but, it's poorly drawn and the "jokes" are what anyone could come up with.
