The top has some padding, there are two handles, for lifting and carrying. It has a wide enough base for my 13" African djembe which it fits overall very well. This case fits a wider base than my Remo drum has, but the Pearl case I bought only fits my Remo drum base and no wider. Go figure. Review: Made for Remo - This cover fit exactly how it should. I have a 16 inche remo djembe. Will this fit in this bag??** A: Tough call. Remo designed their 14" bag to accommodate their 14" top diameter djembes, but they make the top diameter of those bags 16". Assuming the extra inches are by design (for ease of insertion/extraction), then a bag for a 16" head would seem to require a 18" top diameter. In other words, it might fit, but you may find yourself struggling with the final "seating" and zippering of the drum in the bag, and if it's too snug, you might find the zipper tearing away from the cloth material. **Q: Does it have a single shoulder strap or 2 backpack straps?** A: It has a single shoulder strap and a grab handle. **Q: I have a custom 14” djembe. Its base is 11” In diameter. Would this bag accommodate the 11” base?** A: No. 9 1/2" at the bottom, 16 1/2" at the top. **Q: Would A 13inch Wula drum (meaning a fat bottom) fit easily into the bag?** A: What LIMITED experience I have is to measure your Wula from at least 4 positions: First, the top circumference; second, the distance from the top "striking" surface to the "waist"....in the event that you want a "fitted" carrying bag. Obviously, you will require the overall height of the instrument. And, if you are looking for a fitted carrying bag, then you need the circumference of the base. The circumference of the "waist" is not critical since the "base" has to be able to pass thru the waist of the carrying bag. IF you are concerned about the "smooth" machine manufactured instrument bags to carry a "hand made Wula" drum, I would suggest that you might consider alternative or repurposed bags...such as: Armed with the width of the top circumference and total height...then go looking for "floor tom" or duffle bags or alternative bags...including having a local seamstress to custom make your drum bag. For what it is worth, my Remo bag is "snug" on my Remo djembe. Speaking of "repurposed bags" I have a 16 inch "street bop" bass drum that I transport in a Gator PA speaker cabinet. I carry the mounted tom and a small floor tom in a similar speaker cabinet.
