## Description

3A molecular sieves are the potassium form of aluminosilicate zeolite A. Their structure forms a network of pores approximately 3 angstroms in diameter, through which only very small molecules such as water can pass. This makes them useful for removing water from compounds such as ethanol and other light hydrocarbons. They can absorb up to 20% of their weight of water, depending on the surrounding water concentration and other conditions. They can be dried for reuse by heating at 200-300C (400-600F).

**Q: Do these contain any harmful chemicals?**
A: They're composed of potassium aluminosilicate.  They can cause minor irritation of the skin, eyes, lungs, etc, mainly due to their dehydrating effect.  They are not approved or recommended for human consumption or food/beverage contact.

**Q: Do these contain any harmful chemicals?**
A: I believe this is synthetically produced zeolite. It is uniform and clean with trace amounts of piercer. As far as I'm aware the military and some hospitals use zeolite loaded with a form of calcium to prevent excessive bleeding by clotting. I'm no medical expert or scientist but it seems safe. Of course anything in excessive volume can be hazardous to ones health. Hope this helps a little.

Very high quality sieves. Like most home chemists, I have a hard time really getting these truly dry with a regular kitchen oven. But they work well enough for my purposes- such as drying ethanol.

Just buy HFS, they vacuum seal theirs so no water at all and they put a desiccant pack in first to suck up any moisture that might be in there. These were not vacuum packed and already contained some moisture. You should have to dry a desiccant before use.
