Interesting, Fun, and Skill Building
I'm of the opinion you really can't go wrong with anything Jeremy Cohen has created. The Stylistic Duets for Two Violins is no exception. There are several of my violin students who do not have an orchestra in school and have taken up a band instrument. Then they fall under the spell of the awesomely cool jazz band. With the Stylistic Duets, as well as the etudes, we can make that bridge between the beloved jazz band music and classical violin. All while learning useful techniques, encountering interesting sounds and rhythms, and employing lots of counting. They make lessons fun for all concerned! I couldn't say enough good things about these duets. I'm using these with students that are roughly at a Suzuki Book five level and beyond (note - I am not a Suzuki teacher).

Advanced counting and string jumping
Challenging, with syncopation to count and string jumping galore. But if you want to learn jazzy blues riffs, this book has them. Interestingly, my duet partner is a flute-player, not a fiddler. We're scheduled to play our parts together later this month. Will let you know how it goes. Would have given the book 5 stars, but the individual parts aren't very melodic. Am hoping to be wowed when the two parts come together.
