COA: Amateurs to Arms!, the War of 1812 in America and Canada, Board Game

Very good game, and the map is amazing.Highly recommended.

Beautiful map. That was the limit of the game maker's talent. Far too many rules, too many pieces - too, too much of everything. They give you this boatload of pieces because they're trying to cover for the fact that they've made a dog of a "game." They sold the sizzle and left out the steak. And look at that PRICE! Absurd.

This is a superb game; beautiful components, concise rules, and very playable. It uses cards to drive the action and the only minor niggle I have with it is: there are so many (150) that crucial ones sometimes don't come up. On the other hand, the number of cards also adds to the replay value. Unlike other games on this war, Amateurs to Arms covers the entire Eastern/Central U.S. Only the ocean naval war is abstracted. For anyone interested in the War of 1812 or a Napoleonic period game, this is it. Highly recommended.
