Good knife, Not good sheath.
I gave this 4 stars because I really like this knife, with some important caveats. If you are judging from the price, you would be correct in assuming that this is not a high end knife. But it is good sized, beefy (heavy), and they are right, I'd consider this unbreakable (unless you're really trying way too hard). At 5.5 mm (over 3/16" to us Americans) it is seriously thick; perhaps unnecessarily thick for a blade this length. Such a thickness would not be out of place on blades even 3 times this 4 inch length. But I don't mean that as a criticism; I like it. I like the styling of this knife, though it is not very original. It feels good in my hand and I consider it a good inexpensive addition to my collection. While it's heavy, I'd have no qualms carrying this in my pack for a wilderness camp trip. When it arrived, I was surprised to find it came not only with the nylon sheath pictured here, but with a well made kydex sheath as well. Unfortunately, the kydex sheath does not hold the knife securely, so no matter how well the sheath is made, it is useless. The problem is that the finger guard on the knife does not click past the nubs inside in the sheath meant to hold it in. If it went just a millimeter deeper into the sheath, or if those nubs were just a millimeter higher, it would be great. But it doesn't. I like the sheath so I am considering ways to modify it to work. Which I kind of have to do because the nylon sheath it comes with is REALLY cheap and badly made. It works, but I have serious doubts about how long it will last under normal use.The blade was not very sharp when it arrived. That was easily enough remedied. I got it shaving sharp quick enough. But just a few days later it seemed to have dulled after really just a little use cutting some raw chicken. A more thorough run at sharpening and it's back to shaving and I think holding it's edge better now. I will update later if I see any problem.Overall, this is a good knife for the money. I'm not thrilled about the sheaths I got; I will have to find another solution if I'm going to put this knife to real work.

Heavy Metal...
This knife is exactly as shown in the photos and description. What can't be conveyed by the photos is the quality of the finish and the weight of the knife. The steel blank the knife is made from is 7/16" thick at the handle and narrows slightly at the back from hilt to drop point. The blade itself is triangular shaped from the back to the cutting edge (I was unable to discern any noticeable concave curve). The handle has two shaped sides which also appear to be metal for an overall handle width of ⅜". This pushes the knife's center of gravity about an inch past the hilt into the handle. The blade weighs almost nothing compared to the handle, even though the blade is fairly massive. If people say they've cut down a tree with this knife, I would believe them. My knife came with two holsters, a conventional black fabric holster with a "hold down" strap that uses a snap button. It also came with a plastic holster with an integral belt clip that is adjustable for left or right handed users. The plastic holster, while convenient, does not come with any mechanism for holding the knife in place and when turned upside down, the knife will fall out. It should be fairly easy to fabricate such a mechanism.

NOW THATS A KNIVE
There are shiny knives. Knives with pretty designs on the blade. They come with a tin metal box. Deer and rabbits playing in snow scene on the box. Just beautiful. Really great to look at. But wouldn't help you if you were stuck in a paper bag. I am here to tell you Hoffman Richter™ will give you the most value in a real survival knife. Priced incredibly well. 440 stainless steel. It really is 440 stainless. You can dig with it, chop a tree down, cut through just about anything and these knives will absolutely keep there edge. These knives are far, very far from being toys. I took the Reaper™ knife and chopped through a 2x4 in minutes. I said in minutes. These knives arrive beyond sharp. I couldn't stop laughing cause these knives are so so good. I sent the Reaper™ knife all the through my bathroom door. Completely. These knives are weighted perfectly. They double as hammer and as. Very very well. No peace, love and granola here everyone. You can absolutely count on these knives in a survival situation. I have bought two. The wolf™ and the Reaper™ and I am going to by the others. Nobody is giving you this quality for this price. Nobody!!!!!Sincerely,The powered by the magee family likes it rating score system™ people.

INSANELY HEAVY knife, crappy sheaths, but a very interesting knife at a LOW price. But now what will I do with it???
This knife is INSANELY HEAVY at 11.9 ounces (not counting sheath, etc.).Came with a canvas sheath that is a VERY tight fit -- the knife will damage the sheath and make it useless in no time! It also came with a plastic sheath that is absolute garbage. CRKT knives come with a GREAT plastic sheath; Morakniv knives do also. But not this. So know I am going to have to spend another $20 on a sheath . . . .Having said all that, I got this knife at a terrific price thru Amazon!! Attractive block style handle that fits the hand surprisingly well, although the cord tie bites into my hand a bit. For such a great price, I feel ashamed to make any complaint at all -- but I think prospective buyers should have all pertinent information before making a purchase.

The best quality knife at an amazing low price point!
Not sure there is an expensive fixed knife that can match the quality of this one. Why pay more?
