Kinda short but really good.
Like, ya know when people say that they would rather have a really good five hour game than a mediocre forty hour game? Those people are talking about Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion. For a game I only bought because I thought the title was funny, I found it to be a legitimately intriguing, funny, and somewhat heartwarming experience. I actually found it so good that I immediately not only bought the sequel, but used the last of the money in my bank account to purchase the soundtrack on vinyl. You play as a small turnip.

A Very funny and brief game
This game is an overhead Zelda-style adventure game. The game world is colorful, and full of jokes and memes, some parodying the adventure game genre. Due to the short length of the game, the humor doesn’t overstay its welcome. There is a decent amount of lore for the game world, and the music was good too. The combat is a bit limited, since turnipboy has only 1 sword strike, but the game was built around this, so you never feel like the game is punishing you for the slowness. Turnip boy himself moves quite slow for my liking which is the only real gripe with the game; rolling didn’t mKe him move any faster. I was able to 100% the game in about 6 hours.

I LOVE This Game!
This game is absolutely hilarious! Imagine if Link from Legend of Zelda had a vegetable garden, and all the crops got really inspired by his journey and decided to have their own, but also decided to fill it with horrible memes and puns. That's basically what this game is. My only complaint is that it's not longer. I could have kept playing this forever. A sequel is coming out sometime this year I believe and I can't wait!

A cute, short, Zelda-influenced title
Okay, so it probably won't be surprising to anyone reading that I was sucked in by the title of this game. I mean "Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion" just makes one ask so many questions and I was more than willing to take the gamble in this case for some reason.Turnip Boy plays and is set up similarly to something like A Zelda: Link To The Past on the SNES. There are dungeons, but most of the game consists of fetch quests, which sounds bad at first, but thankfully the game is short (about 3 hours tops) so it doesn't wear out its welcome. I'm pretty sure the creators were aware the fetch quest nature would get old fast if the game's length was substantially longer, so kudos for knowing when to end the experience. Additionally, it seems the creators were rather laser focused on the audience they were aiming for with this one. Yeah, I'll admit that it's odd that me, a 38 year-old was interested in this one, but with the ESRB rating being a E10+, it's clear by all the pop culture references in the game's script that tweens are the intended audience for this one. The negative born out of this is the game (well, it's dialog) is probably going to age a bit ungracefully once "the next big thing" that children get interested in comes along and everything that came before gets labeled as lame by the next generation. Also, I found the soundtrack to be surprisingly good as well which is a plus since I'm a big fan of video game music. In short, this is a cute game with some intriguing twists that I'm glad I tried and glad exists. However, with it's short length, you may just want to opt for the DL instead. My suggestion? Buy the DL and if you (or your child) loves it, then by the physical copy. Yeah, it's true that the price is where it should be given it's length - I'll give credit where it is due there - but this doesn't land in "keeper" territory for me. Again, glad I played it, but I have a few friends that want to try it and I think passing it on in hopes of it finding a more appreciative home is the right move. Still, if your interested I'd suggest trying it out.

I laughed, I cried, I committed tax evasion
I hemmed and hawed over buying this based on the "it's only 4 hours or so long for $24" reviews, despite all the glowing reviews that it was worth the price. It is so worth the price. This is such a unique little journey, the unexpected twists and turns are something that has to be played through blind to go through the full emotional journey. Yes, it is game about tax evasion. But it is also a game about so much more. I'm begging you: please buy this game. By the end I had felt so many emotions in my little turnip adventure.TLDR: This turnip game is one of few games I will forever remember in my heart. Please buy it.

Amazing
I honestly didn't know what to expect with this game, the title really doesn't help. That said its a delightful yet twisted game with such an innocent, or should I say blissfully ignorant, interacting with some dark story lines. Loves it start to finish and beyond, wild game.

Short but Sweet!
This game is quite short - only takes about 2ish hours from start to finish, but it does have replay-ability to it. The character is adorable, you are a root vegetable neglecting your civic duty and not properly claiming your taxes. You then run around the small veggie-world and rob and pillage its people. Really fun little piece!

Pay to Play
This game is super cute. HOWEVER. You can't complete the entire game or all the puzzles without subscribing to an online account and there's no mention of that anywhere in the description.
