Compx National Pin Tumbler Lock, Bright Nickel

Arrived in two days. Thank you, excellent seller.For those of you who say that this product was not a proper replacement, you have obviously ordered the wrong item. This is a CompX lock, which is the same manufacturer of the lock in your mailbox. The replacement process was very quick and easy.I took the lock, a pair of pliers, a screwdriver (didn't even use it), and a ratchet with 13mm socket on it to the mailbox. I walked up the mailbox and opened it with the key. Then I turned the key back to the lock position (with the door still open) and removed the key. I started the stopwatch on my phone and picked up the ratchet. I removed the nut with the ratchet and placed the nut and cam in the mailbox. I then used the pliers to remove the retaining clip and took the lock from the hole. Placed everything in the mailbox. Then I took out the new lock and removed the key from it, placed it in the hole and used the pliers to put the retaining clip back in. Then replaced the cam and nut with the ratchet. I took the new keys out and closed the mailbox back up. Then I pushed the stop button on my phone.It took 2 minutes, 22 seconds for the entire process, including taking my tools out of the bag I was using to carry them. That was a shorter time than it took me to write this review. A+.

This is an exact replacement for your mailbox lock. The only drawback is that you need a good rapport with your carrier to have him open the box so you can replace it.

Lost my unit mailbox key and the alternative was to pay for a locksmith to open and replace my lock. This lock replaced my box perfectly. Important thing is to preserve the cam (latch) since this does not come with one. I waited for my mailperson to come and they opened the door so I could remove my lock because other reviews mentioned that drilling the lock open can cause damage to the cam. Super quick and easy, looked at a quick tutorial video on YouTube, used an adjustable wrench to unscrew the nut, and pliers to remove and replace the clip. Lock came with three keys that work, agree that they may stick slightly but no issue opening and closing mailbox. Whole process took 2 minutes and saved $$$.

I got this product to replace the old one that was on the new condo's box mail we have recently bought but the previous owners were foreclosed so they didn't left the mail box keys at the apartment. The bank's realtor also didn't know anything about the keys and the property manager didn't have a spare key; therefore, we were left to solve the problem for ourselves. After doing some research online we found this guy who posted instructions with pictures on how to DIY the lock and recommended this one. So far so good. My husband was able to do the work in record time. The only thing you have to keep in mind, this one doesn't come with the cam lock so you will have to keep the cam from your old lock as we did to use with this one. There is another product similar to this one but a little more expensive that comes with the cam lock but we got this one because we knew the old cam was in very good shape. The other detail was my husband had to reverse the position of mounting clip because when you place the clip in the original position the lock doesn't get firmly attached to the lock box, it gets loose so, my husband reverse it and solved this issue.

This was a perfect replacement for my neighborhood grey kiosk style mailbox slot.Since I had to have a mail person pop the original lock, I didn't know the orientation of the latch so it took a few attempts to get it correct.My latch is the thicker one from the usps-l-1172c lock that was existing in the box.It was really simple to do, and once I tried flipping the latch the locked position held snug with no play.

Bought in late November. Easy to install but function (turning key) a bit stiff. Oiled it with 3 in 1 and worked it before install (still stiff). Worked well for about a month but then became more and more difficult. Some days I get my mail .. some days I can't get it open. Tried oiling it again .. no improvement. Now I just leave it unlocked until I get a new one. I'll pay extra for a better lock. Recommend you to to.

The keyway was different than the original lockset that was in the mailbox but it didn’t matter at least in this instance, this is a well made lock that fit perfect and works perfect
