Usefull and low cost for occasional work
Very nice as the row of led gives you the width of the beam as you slide it around, not just an approximation of left and right side, so you can easily spot dead center of the beam, especially important for load bearing needs

Simple and effective
I have a Bosch stud-finder that provides detailed info like metal or magnetic obstructions but it’s just overly complex in some situations. This Franklin unit just tells me where the studs are and does it accurately.

Useless
It does detect. But it detects the wall. Not what’s behind it. Using on standard plaster walls with stud work and insulation. 80% of the lights are on. I know where the studs are so know this is not accurate at all.

Accurate and easy to use
Press the button, finds the stud. Let’s show the exact width of the stud as well. Excellent tool and much more accurate than others I have used in the past. Highly recommended.
