Going to the park is fun, educational, and great for practicing those social skills. This story helps reinforce social skills such as sharing, taking turns, and waiting in line. While going to the park can be great fun, leaving the park can cause great stress to a child on the spectrum. This story includes information about leaving the park and helps cue your child with an 'indicator card' (as shown in photos). An Indicator Card is used to help children transition either to or from an activity. The book will also reassure your child that they will be able to come to the park again some day. This book has the added benefit of PECS Sentence Strips. This provides the additional benefit of attaching a picture to every word in the story. Because children with autism think in pictures, they also learn in pictures. Purpose of social stories: • I ncrease understanding • D ecrease anxiety • E ducate your child about an event • A ffirm success • S hare information This story is 10 pages and measures approx. 8" x 6".
