Gardening: Square Foot Gardening, Gardening A Beginners Guide Paperback – July 22, 2016

The first book, Square Foot Gardening was fairly complete. As a master gardener with 50years experience, there was some advice I would like to quibble with. First off, almost all organic soil amendments are mined, whether it is greensand or rock phosphate, or diatamausis earth(for insect control), perlite, or vermiculite. Vermiculite is also mined in the United States, so, although the author is originally from Great Britain where I'm certain probably the vermiculite does come from Russia, that is not true for us here in the U.S.Vermiculite is much preferable to perlite as a ingredient to your container mix. It is light and airy, but doesn't float to the surface like perlite. Basically you are making an organic potting mix in your raised bed or table garden or grow bag. I've been growing in a Vegtrug and grow bags for five years now and have had great success. Secondly, the material is from The All New Sguare Foot Gardening Book, which was written by the inventor of the method. The second book with the information about companion planting was excellent! This is why I gave the book 4stars instead of 3. All of the advice is valid except for the knock against vermiculite. I'm glad Simon included worm compost, because I have found that seems to be the most complete and effective for use in my experience.

Now a days finding organic food is more difficult, even the products have an organic label sometimes it isn't true. I love to eat healthy and to use some species with my food, thats why I bought this book. The author explains step by step what you need to have for a square foot gardening, he explains what it is, how to make the process organic, which are the most common mistakes, how to planning and build, the composting methods, how to planting and how to maintain it. Is a very helpful book if you are interested in have your own and small crop. Totally recommended

These books are well-researched, beautifully written and offers a lot of valuable and interesting information. Even I knew some things already, but I actually enjoy reading it.

This book is a most have!Whether you are an experience gardener or not this book is filled with Lots of great information. Love it!

I've been gardening for about three years with little success. This spring I look forward to using the tips on raised beds and pairing plants. Helpful.
