Review: Fun, Easy, and Surprisingly Capable Mini Drone — Great for Kids & Beginners - I bought this mini drone for my kiddo (8 years old), and it has been a total hit. Setup was quick, it’s very easy to fly, and the 720p FPV camera makes it fun to see what the drone sees in real time. It’s the perfect mix of simple controls and features that keep kids (and adults) engaged. First Impressions & Setup: Right out of the box, everything was clearly labeled and intuitive. Charging the drone and controller didn’t take long, and the included instructions were easy to follow. My kid was flying within minutes, which was awesome — no complicated assembly required. Flight Performance: The controls are smooth and responsive, even for a beginner. Take‑off and landing are simple, and the drone stays stable in the air thanks to built‑in altitude hold. It handles basic maneuvers like forward/backward, left/right, and 360° flips with ease, which keeps flights fun. Camera & FPV: The 720p camera is really good for a mini drone in this price range. It streams video to the controller (or phone, depending on your setup), so we can see what it sees in real time — and that’s a huge highlight for kids. Photos and videos are decent quality for casual use and perfect for flying around the yard or park. Durability & Safety: It’s surprisingly sturdy. We’ve had a few minor bumps into trees and grass landings, and it held up well. The prop guards help protect both the drone and anything it might bump into — great feature for novices. It also has low battery alerts and an auto‑land function that makes it easier to prevent crashes. Playtime & Battery Life: Flight time is solid for a small drone — long enough to enjoy several flights before needing to recharge. The USB charging cable is convenient, and having spare batteries (if you get them) can extend playtime even more. Pros: ✔️ Easy to fly — excellent for beginners and kids ✔️ Fun 720p FPV camera with live view ✔️ Stable hovering and responsive controls ✔️ Durable design with prop guards ✔️ Quick setup, minimal learning curve Cons: ➖ Battery life is good but not long — get a spare if you want extended play sessions ➖ Video quality isn’t HD‑action‑camera level (but totally fine for this price and drone size) Who This Is Best For: Ideal for kids, beginners, or anyone who wants a fun, easy‑to‑use drone with a camera that actually works. If you’re new to flying or want a safe first drone experience, this little quadcopter hits the sweet spot. Final Thoughts: This mini drone delivers way more fun than I expected for the price. It’s simple enough for kids to enjoy right away, but still exciting enough with its FPV camera and stable flight to keep older beginners entertained. Definitely a great pick if you want something that’s fun, functional, and reliable out of the box. ✔️ Highly recommend ✔️ Great for gifts and family fun ✔️ Easy enough for first‑time pilots
Review: The DeeRC D20 is a great 14+ age beginner drone to learn to fly by visual flight or FPV. - The DeeRC D20 drone comes in a great kit which includes: travel case, controller, foldable drone, 2 batteries, 2 chargers, extra propellers and instruction manual (see photo). A perfect complete kit to keep everything together and packed for traveling. The camera is adjustable for setting viewing angle as desired and takes good video and photos (see photo taken from back yard). This drone is really fun to fly indoors or outdoors in wind still conditions. Takeoff is as easy as pressing a button on the controller and landing by pressing the button again. If you prefer to fly with the sticks just push the left stick forward for takeoff and pull back to land. Doing flips is as easy as taking off, hovering at about 8 feet altitude, pushing the flip button on the controller and pushing the right stick in the direction of the desired flip. The drone will perform the flip and resume back to a hover and normal stick control. When the drone batteries get low on charge the lights will start blinking indicating you should land soon. If the drone batteries get too low the drone will land straight down. Don’t worry about flying the drone out of range of the controller because the drone will automatically land straight down from where it losses contact with the controller. Headless mode is activated by a button on the controller and is a nice feature that keeps forward, back, left and right control the same no matter the orientation of the drone. In standard mode the forward, back, left and right control reverses when you rotate the drone to facing you. This takes a little practice to get used to. This is a great starter drone to learn on without spending a lot of money. If you lose interest after a while you have not spent a lot of money and you will have had the value in fun. If you become passionate about the hobby you will want to upgrade to a drone that has GPS. Technical support from the company is great. You can talk to a live person in minutes after calling in. They will respond by email within 24 hours. I do recommend the DeeRC D20 as a great beginners drone.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fun and cheap way to try drones
*by W***L on January 5, 2021*

This is my first and only experience with a drone, so I don't know how it compares to others. It was purchased as a gift for my 9 year old nephew. He loves it and has had a blast playing with it. I will offer my observations, but suspect this is typical for drones at this pricepoint. 1) The propeller guards aren't very useful, and fall off easily. The propellers seem to be sturdy enough to survive without them though. If you want to use the guards, I would paint them blaze orange so you can find them easier when they fall off, as they do with most crashes. We lost one almost immediately. However, after several days of nothing but crash landings the drone was still working just fine. 2) The takeoff feature seemed nice, but you will need a smooth surface of some sort. The box it comes in works fine. The drone is too small to just set in the grass, as the grass blades will interfere with the propellers. 3) The camera/video feature is lower quality and the little video we recorded was pretty choppy. There also is no audio, although that might be a good thing. 4) The days we flew the drone had a bit of wind and it struggled to overcome the breeze. I would recommend only flying it on calm days. Be sure to learn the "force kill" command on the remote to shut the drone off mid-flight if it starts to get away. We had a very close call with a pool early on, then got stuck high in a tree later that day. 5) The automatic "stunt flip" feature was a huge hit with the kids, and they were content to just get off the ground, do a flip, then crash before it got too far away. 6) 10 minute battery life may seem short, but for our purposes and lack of skill the 2 batteries lasted long enough to get our fill. Overall it's a great little toy and was a huge hit with my nephews. Well worth the cost.
