1599 Geneva Bible (Black Bonded Leather Edition)

The 1599 Geneva Bible
This Bible is a preferred Bible of choice due to the great renewing of the old English style text that is now in modern Times New Roman font. The Bible is easy to read and understand. The translator comments will add deeper understanding of God's Word and leave further insight into the passages you read.[...]This video gives some insight of the Protestant Reformation. This was one of the first Bibles that was translated into English. The truth was finally revealed to The World [after many centuries of deception and lies from The Catholic Church]. We would not have had The Bible today had it not been for God's hand over these brave men who were able to obtain the Greek and Hebrew scrolls from the Islamic Crusades. Much blood was shed so that we might have God's Precious and Holy word for access. I encourage anyone who doesn't know the history and heritage of our Christian Roots, to explore more about The Protestant Reformation.[...][...]With this said, there have been complaints about Tolle Lege Press' grammatical errors in this renewed reprint of the 1599 Geneva Bible, I have read a number of books from it thus far and have found it to be in good quality. Tolle Lege Press has made a number of revisions and it definately is great to read. With this said, however, I have seen some minor errors. Though, on their site, they do state that they would NOT change any errors that were in the original 1599 Geneva Bible in order to maintain its historical validity. Bearing this in mind, these minor/slight issue do NOT hinder the reading experience and the words in this transation is VERY POWERFUL.I have a King James/New King James Parallel Bible and there is no comparison. The 1599 Geneva Bible is now my personal favorite. I certainly hope that new printings of the original English translations like Tyndale, Wyclife and others will be printed at some time. However, I do not agree that the apocrypha should be included with them. Tolle Lege Press made sure to NOT include these four-or-so books from being in this re-print. IT is certainly arguable. But I, personally, do not feel that these belong in God's Holy Word. They were books that were written when Israel had no prophets and have much things that are contradiction to God's Word. One must also know that the Protestant Reformers had still some bonds with the Catholic Church even though they did NOT stand united with them. Many reasons for why they kept it in the original translations, including historical information (informative). However, it will not be fruitful for any believer to actually read them. With all this said, I definately recommend this Bible to anyone who wants a beautiful and insightful translation of the original Hebrew and Greek scrolls [Old Testiment and New Testiment].

The first English, Christian (not-Roman Catholic) Study Bible
These writers, having fled the bloody persecution of the catholic church against those whom understood the contents of the book the papal office has for so long coveted the development and dissemination of. No man needs another man to forgive their sins, living or dead, aside from the Savior "Christianity" is based on. No man needs pray to another being, aside from the Creator. The commentaries in this nearly 500 year-old book are scathing realities of what the early reformists believed, saw and experienced during their time. Many of the commentaries, such as the Biblical refutation of transubstantiation, are still valid and blatantly ignored by the modern "Universal Church", aspiring to be the new one world religion. Not the best made, although it should last long enough to appreciate, given proper care. It is a blessing to have these (the 1599 Geneva and 1611 KJ) copyright-free translations which can, after years of assaults, hunts, burning and persecutions, still stand upon its own feet and purely declare the Gospel Message of God's love, plan for the ages, salvation and redemption. Not as many cross-references as the 1611 KJ, but far more details given in the footnotes. The truth, while scathing, may not be proved false. Our acceptance, or rejection, of the truth changes not its validity, capacity for self-manifest defense, and (as is the case with all truths) the truth requires not our petty attempts to defend it. It is, in fact, when we attempt to stand in trial for the defense of the truth where we prolong injustice by opening ourselves up for cross-examination, inevitably delaying the unchangeable pending justice. The truth is discovered, not invented, and is demonstrable, through self-discovery, given only from the hand of God. Should you seek the truth, it is easy enough to be found. Should you choose aught, for this current age, be forewarned that "every knee", living and dead, will bow. Will yours be bent in love, or in service?1 Cor 4:21 - What will ye? Shall I come unto you with a rod, or in love and the spirit of meekness?Nearly 2,000 years ago, the flesh and blood manifestation of absolute truth was crucified, as history and archeology attest, in perfect love and meekness, daring to spend His life among the sick, needy and sinner, offering grace over condemnation. The next time He comes, anxiously awaited for the last 6,000 years, He will come as the King, Ruler over All the earth, carrying the Rod of Justice. We are guilty of sin. Abiding one law does not grant remission of sins for breaking another. The only way to redemption, salvation and restoration is through His Grace, Kindness and Mercy, in the long-ago prophesied birth of God's only Son. Choose love, while still the choice is yet yours to make.

Excellent condition and customer service
Being recently born from above I am a new Bible reader. This year I've acquired 4 different Bible versions on my own and 2 others that were gifts from family many years ago.Being compelled to get a copy of the Geneva Bible I chose this version. Then changed my mind. Tried to cancel due to wanting a facsimile version instead. Was already shipped. Seller emailed multiple times to explain this version vs facsimile and offering me to ship it back for refund.I have only received it today so this review is only about service and quality rather than content. Bible arrived quickly via USPS from clear across America. Over a holiday weekend at that. This Tolle Lege Geneva Bible arrived with what I think is a CDROM version. Can't tell you what it as I have nothing to put it in. It also came with some informative handouts regarding our Nation. The Geneva Bible itself, even though listed as a better than good condition used Bible, seems to be in excellent condition. It looks new to me. I think I was the first person to open it. The page and print quality is good. I wish it were a bit darker, but that might just be my own aging vision. What I like is the paper is thick and non-see-through. Two of the Bibles I ordered this year had very thin paper and you can see the words showing through from the other page. I am looking forward to reading this.

The First fully translated Bible ever produced!
Something of a Bible collector, I now have many different translations including the 1560 facsimile of the Geneva. I love the facsimile but Its very limiting in a. size b. typeface. in 1560 that book was revolutionary and for the pilgrims that was the standard size of books as they tended to be read from a table. Nowadays we have bibles that you can fit in your pocket, so frankly the Geneva as a powerful reformation translation was crying out to be shrunk and updated! Its happened to the NASB with the thees and thous removed, and even The KJV. So seeing the Geneva have its spellings updated and made more understandable is heartwarming. I personally prefer the Geneva over the KJV (KJV) largely because of its roots, it just feels to me more sincere, whilst renderings of certain well known chapters (psalms 23 "long season" instead of "forever") are different, It just adds to the Geneva character, knowing that 20% of the AV is Geneva shows its authority as well.Had King James not outlawed the Geneva from publication in the UK, and then printed the KJV, The Geneva would be the version used in all churches, there would be Geneva Onlyists still criticising Modern Versions (which are translated from different manuscripts..nothing is "taken out" It just isnt in the manuscript) The world would be the same, But the Geneva would come from protestant reformationists rather than a King who wanted to control the beliefs of his people.Anyway, the Bible is beautiful, gold leafed, leather, text easy to read and in a beautiful font (which i see is somewhat trying to imitate the older fonts of the original) it has (amazingly) all the original notes; just look at revelation, the notes take up half to three quarters of the page haha. Some of the archaic words are explained at the back, theres also section at the back of old prayers used by the pilgrims. apocrypha and metrical psalms are on a DVD as well as a copy of the bible itself. For the price, you simply cannot go wrong, its a real thing of beauty. It LOOKS authoritative, and it is.

I love the Geneva Bible.
I absolutely well and truly love this Bible. Its Yellowish pages make it easier on the eyes, the translation is as good as you can get next to the original scriptures, and knowing it is the translation that the pilgrims used on the Mayflower and also the Bible the Puritans used adds to its feel of a very old translation. My KJB is now on the shelf and my Geneva Bible is my go to Bible. And I truly love the study notes as this is the first study Bible to be published.I love it.
