Q: Are these suitable for wearing around the house? I generally have very "hot" feet that perspire easily.

These are breathable cloth shoes. However the insoles are rubber so your feet will perspire in them. My feet are hot and perspire easily as well and I usually do not wear these shoes in the house. That said, they are extremely comfortable shoes and were from day one. They have become my go to pair when I go out.

Q: How to wash and care for orthofeet men's gray lava shoes?

I put mild soapy water in spray bottle, sprayed onto edge of soles. Then used a sponge (light scrubbing) on edge of sole where I had sprayed solution. All of this on back patio, close to water source. Clean edge of shoe under slow running water. Light brush on top to remove dust.

Q: I recently had foot surgery. Doctor instructed to wear form sole shoes to keep from having too much movement in my foot. Do these have firm soles?

The insoles provide support for the bottom of your feet. My only problem was that one of my legs has swelling and causes my foot to swell as well. These shoes are made from material that causes the shoe on that side to expand and therefore lacks support on the sides of the shoe. These shoes are comfortable and work well if the swelling is controlled.

Q: Is there a women’s version?

There is a woman's version. The difference is the gray leather trim is (shiny) silver in womens. I'd like to find the equivalent size for women in men's shoes because I prefer the gray over the shiny silver in a casual shoe.= like this.
