Firefly Magic Solar and Battery-Operated Firefly Lights (Lightning Bug Lights), Model FMS-14S2, 14 LED Lights, Firefly Green

Purchased 4 sets a couple years ago. I love them. Totally realistic. They don't move but I swear they give the illusion of moving glow bugs. Because they do that thing real fireflies do... come on then fade slowly out, or flicker a bit. And they are so random, just like in the real world, that sometimes you see none, or in a random way several fire simultaneously. They are not indestructible, I live in the mountains and some squirrels chewed through all of the wires. I don't know what's up with these squirrels. We had squirrels at our other house that didn't bother the fireflies but these squirrels at our new house are bitches. That's not the firefly makers fault though so I don't know why I'm even bringing it up. So anyway I bought another set and fixed it up inside, in the living room. Also I bought a light which makes it look like there's night time clouds blowing by on the ceiling, kind of goes with the fireflies because you can pretend you're outside. I mean you could just go walk outside if you want to but there's no fireflies out there lol. Anyway these things are great if for example you have been doing bong hits or of you've been suffering from brain damage.

This is the second set I have purchased and they are amazing in so many ways. We have real fireflies on our property in Massachusetts and they mimic fireflies pretty well, especially if the wind is blowing the LEDs around. The solar charging works well and every couple months I recharge the batteries using an external charger to top off the charge if needed.My only complaint is one that I replaced my first set because most of the LEDs had been eaten off by birds and/or squirrels. I wish that there was a bit tougher plastic protecting the area and inch above the LEDs to give them a fighting chance of not being chewed off. I'll have to experiment with some heat shrink tubing and steel mesh. Otherwise I'd give them 5 stars instead of 3.The critters have chewed through about a third of the LEDs now on this set so I'll have to decide if it's worth replacing them when this set goes too. I had the previous design where the LED strands plugged in to the solar module, but the newer format, while probably more waterproof, means I cannot mix and max strands if one gets eaten too much.

We fell in love with this at the Pirates of the Caribbean ride in Disneyland years ago when we had dinner at the restaurant there in the ride. It was decorated like a tropical patio and had these type of lights in the trees we sat under. They were so charming that we immediately started looking for them when we got home. We are now on our third set having used and burned through 2 previous sets. We love them. They are so realistic. They really do last a long time...we've been using them now for about 6 or 7 years...maybe longer so having to buy a third set after all the years use we have had is really not at all bad.

Although the setup required the assistance of two others in order to continually disentangle the wiring, once the solar battery received sufficient sun, the flickering flies worked quite well. It is quite a job to keep the wires from showing. Abundant sunlight is not required to activate the thing. I don't know how long they last at night as I only view them for about an hour after sunset.The bulbs themselves, although similar in concept to Christmas Tree lights have a random timing, each followed by a slow fade and the relatively lengthy time between these flickers keep one staring for others to follow. A times, there are as many as several minutes between the flickers and the flickers themselves are very minute so you really have to keep the gaze or you'll miss them.

Admit it...you really don't NEED this. But, life is just a little bit better with some fireflies in your backyard. They are easy to set-up. The solar cell keeps everything powered-up...and the little electronic fireflies look exactly like the real thing. Don't expect a dazzling light display...just a charming random flicker from the lights. We'll be getting some more.

These are so pretty! I wish my phone would let me record these (it keeps turning the light on no matter what I do). I put these in my room since I have an over the bed shelf. I didn't think of how long the lines are, so I didn't completely unwrap the cords.Highly suggest doing only one side at a time and leaving the other side wrapped up until you're ready to do it. There are so many little wires coming off of a large wire that it's easy to tangled them up

My husband grew up in the midwest where they have real fireflies. Where we live now there are none. So I bought him these. He loves sitting outside in the summer evenings and watching them; he says they are as good as the real thing, assuming you aren't interested in catching them in a jar.

The cords are thick and black, very ugly. I followed their other reviews and really wanted to like this product. Idk why ppl think they are pretty. They are not. Very ugly green, pus, mucus color. I tried to put them on my lanai the cords were jus so black and ugly you can see them more than the lights. Better off buying Xmas lights
