French finesse
There's always the Next Big Thing in Music but French actress and singer Louane really could be it based on the success of this album release - and she is just 18. She hit No.1 with this album of French songs and the anthemic nursery rhymish single Avenir in France. Two things stand out with this album - Louane's sweet pure melodic voice and the careful handling of the album's musical arrangements that maintain the character of the album without resorting to lazy cliches. For example, the radio edit of Jeune (2 versions on this album), being up tempo and jolly stays quirky enough to be different. Je Vole is the Big Ballad - almost a capella with its restrained and stripped back piano backing. . But there's big choruses too like Nous and Jour 1 and the urgent-sounding and dramatic Alien speeds things up with its reciting of the verses which stop it from descending into typical Eurodisco. The best artist I can think of who Louane reminds me of right now is possibly Australian Delta Goodrem who is especially known for her passionate lyrics and piano ballads. But if you love hearing the French language delivered in melodic form you'll love this.

First Magnitude
worldlisteningpost.comLouane Emera knows success and sorrow. She turned all four judges’ chairs at her audition for the French version of The Voice, she won a César Award (the French Oscar) for her first film and saw her debut album go to number 1. She also lost both parents by the time she was 17. Chambre 12 (Room 12)—pop songs filled with teen vitality mixed with ballads of experience, nostalgia and hard choices—showcases her captivating voice and humble mien. Especially enchanting is Louane’s rendition of "La Mère à Titi" (Titi’s Mother), written by Renaud, a Dylanesque figure noted for his influence on other French artists and his reedy voice; the song describes the warmth of a friend’s home, its charming bric-a-brac, furnishings, figurines and pictures, and the maternal personage who presides over it all. The lyrics of "Jeune" (Young)—“I’d love to follow the sun, get vertigo, stand close to the cliff’s edge”—sound rebellious, but Louane’s voice and bounce project innocence. Other album highlights include the poignant "Maman" (Mom); the title track, in which she agonizes over lost love; and "Je vole" (I’m Flying), a Michel Sardou ballad she sang in her award-winning film role. Stay tuned: This artist will be turning heads and chairs for a long, long time.

A phenomenal gift to the world with love, from France
Once in a blue moon comes a new talent so captivating it defies international boundaries. The fact that Louane's debut album Chambre 12 is performed in French will undoubtedly limit its appeal to those who shrug off World Music but given her unique and astonishing talent that will not hold this young girl back for long from achieving global superstar status. Her music is thoughtfully produced and so enchanting it's virtually irresistible. It''s only a question of time and perhaps a foray into English lyrics until Louane secures a position as truly the "next big thing" in music.. In a landscape littered with attitudinous Pop Fluff Princesses Miss Emera is the real regal deal. You don't have to speak French to embrace Louane .From her achingly beautiful ballads to her addictive dance tracks the heart and spirit shine through, transcending the language barrier. English translations of her lyrics are easily available online, but that said--- this girl is worth learning French for. Simply downright amazing. J'adore.

This is very very nice. Everything about Chamber 12 exceeded my expectations
This is very very nice. Everything about Chamber 12 exceeded my expectations. This cd deserves extra credit stars for great liner notes, which include lyrics which are legible. Her clarity of voice would make this useful for students of French.
