Soak your feet in warm water for 5-10 minutes or until the skin begins to soften.2. Wet the stone. This will help it slide more easily across your skin.3. Gently scrub the calloused/dry area in a circular motion for a minute or two. Repeat if necessary until the area is soft and supple.4. Dry the area and lightly scrub with your buffing stone. 5. Rinse/dry once more and moisturize. You should clean your pumice stone after each use as dead skin can build up in it's natural grooves. Comfortable and effective
These stones work very well to reduce the calluses on my aged feet. At first, I thought the darker stone would be too rough. Not so--what counts is that the height of the stone surface is even. So in fact, the darker stone is comfortable to use. The lighter stone is a good follow-up, or effective by itself for smaller problems. Due I guess to the thinner skin that comes with age, I always have to keep in mind not going too deep, lest live skin be affected and bleeding result.

I was pleasantly surprised, the black pumice stone was coarse but wasn't painful or harsh as I'd thought. The other stone is more of a smooth texture but great for finishing off. It comes with a handy little bag which is great for storing the stones. I'm really glad I got itPumice is better for exfoliation than the sandpaper heel sanders that are popular in the department stores.

Nice but your paying for the bag.
I liked that it was ergonomic and it had a rope attached so it can be hung. But man The lava stone wad super light the pumice one almost crumbled touching it to anything. They do come in a very nice bag. I had to tighten the rope on them because it was loose. They come individually packaged that was nice. I guess it's worth it so my hubby doesn't have caveman feet.

Black stone too sharp for my skin, purple one left purple specs of dust everywhere
Bought it for calluses on hands from working out and barbells - had to work really hard to get the calluses down with these. It was hard to pin point such a small area and it was messy.

Save your money. These turned moldy in my shower in no time. I had to toss them. Didn't even last a couple months.
