Salmon And Potato Dry Dog Food Size: 25-Lb Bag

This is an expensive variety of the nutrisource dog food brand, but my dog loves it. She is allergic to chicken, so we usually buy the lamb, trout, or whitefish versions. Salmon is great for her coat and skin, so we do try to put it in the rotation at least twice every year for our pup. I also love that we can switch between flavors without any tummy issues or the need to mix the old and new.

My daughter's vet recommended this food for her dogs, so I decided to try it as my newsly rescued 8-mo. old Beagle was having runny stools. I had ordered a supplement that was expensive and didn't really help all that much. Within a couple of days, his stools were regular and solid. Sadly, it's not available in sotres, but price is good and ships within a day or two.

My dog is allergic to wheat and anything with feathers, Chicken, Duck, Turkey, etc.... When I take her for walks she constantly eats grass as if she's starving!! This mix of food has stopped her ravenous desire for grass!! I think my poor allergic girl needed some grains in her diet so I had to hunt far and wide to find this High Quality, non-wheat dog food. My dog LOVES it and so do I. After I read about the heart problems with a grain-free diet, I started feeding my dog random grains to counteract the grain-free revolution. Also a welcome side effect, my dog is less allergic this Spring - maybe it's the dog food? I only have to give her Benadryl instead of Apoquel.

I only feed my dog Pure Vita as it is the only dog food that controls his skin problems. I ordered this bag not realizing that it is not grain free. I saw the salmon on the picture and thought that was his usual food. I'd already thrown the bag away, but it had a salmon on it. Since there wasn't a picture of the ingredient list, I read the description in the narrative, and it said...."PureVita Salmon and Peas Formula Grain-Free combines tasty salmon with wholesome sweet potatoes and a select variety of berries, fruits and vegetables to deliver a healthy and delicious, easy to digest meal your dog will love. And because it is made by NutriSource, you can be sure that it is formulated and produced with care using the finest quality ingredients from our family to yours." Maybe it's my mistake for not looking carefully at the picture on the the bag, but the description said it was the Salmon and Pea Grain Free formula, so I was good to go when I ordered it! Anyway, within a few days of opening the new bag, Rocky was itching like crazy and his skin started getting flaky, and I couldn't figure out what was wrong until I looked at the bag one day and realized it wasn't his usual Pure Vita Salmon that was GRAIN FREE!!! This one has oats and barley in it!! I'm just very disappointed because now I have to give this bag away and order another of his formula, and this is a very expensive dog food. Yes, the GRAIN FREE formula works for my Rocky and my son's collie who both have skin issues, but this bag's picture doesn't match its description, and now I'm confused as what to trust when ordering...the picture or the description???? Most dog foods have a picture of their ingredient list, too. Rocky's not happy either. He loves the food, but not the itching that grain causes him.
