The Ramen Book Tankobon Hardcover – October 1, 2016

first, when I just received the book I was surprised about the size - it is quite small, like a booklet you would get in a convention. it is ofcourse my fault for not reading the details of the book, I just guess I was expecting a bigger book. the font is quite small (but ok for me to read). it is definitely a short read.the booklet is divided to ramen information (types, regions, parts), and then restaurant recommendations.It is a nice addition to the collection, but it is more of a cultural book than a food book. also, some english translations fail grammatically, but thats part of the charm :)anyway, if you are a Ramen nerd - this book won't give you a lot. BUT, if you are new to craft Ramen, this is a good place to start to learn the basics.

I like the content of this little book very much. 5 stars. But the book has one big flaw, typography. I am referring to the English translation text. Much of the text is printed very small. However, some is printed dark enough to read rather easily. Many parts are printed very light, especially important introductory passages in each section, and are quite hard to see. I would recommend the the printer in the next printing take care of this. Hence the reduced number of stars.I have one more suggestion. On page 99 is a not very useful conversational aid for ordering ramen in Japanese. What's missing is a transliteration (romaji) so the non-Japanese speaker can pronounce the Japanese sentences.I tried to find a way to contact the publisher and author, but I was unsuccessful.

The book provides only general descriptions with no actual recipes. It's only useful for people planning to travel to Japan to visit specific ramen shops. Most of the different varieties described aren't available in the USA. .

Great read, although the japanglish is sometimes humorous.

Book for some who has never seen, tasted or made ramen in their life. Title should be “ramen for idiots”

Informative but not worth the £20 odd pounds I paid for it. No recipes in in if that’s what your looking for!
