Perfect for a small DSLR or mirrorless
The Pleasure Dome (M) is a small bag for traveling light with a mirrorless or small DSLR. It’s a redesign of the original Pleasure Dome but nearly the same save for minor cosmetic changes. The biggest improvement over the original is the use of D-rings to secure the strap (rather than a string loop).WHAT FITS: The interior compartment is configurable via a velcro secured divider. Remove the divider, and the Pleasure Dome holds a small DSLR with mounted small prime or zoom. My Canon Rebel SL1 with EF 24 2.8 IS USM and hood fit perfectly. The SL1 also fits with an EF-s 18-55 3.5-5.6 IS STM (no hood) but is snug.Leave the divider in and there’s room for a micro 4/3 or APS-C mirrorless camera and a second lens. So no problem for my EOS M3 and EF-M 18-55 3.5-5.6 IS STM with EF-M 22 2.0 STM on the side. A medium or larger DSLR like a 80D or 5D MKIII is a no-go for this bag.The two inside pockets have ample room for small flat objects such as SD cards and ID.CONSTRUCTION: This goth black Cordura top loader sports a grab handle, removable strap and non-scratching nylon zipper. Exterior fabric is tough but smooth and is textured like a tiny pleated couch pillow!I can open the zipper single-handedly with a quick pull. The zipper opens the bag clamshell style. Gussets, one on each side, allow the lid to open wide for quick extraction while preventing it from flopping all the way open and spilling your goodies. The interior is minty gray, making it easy to see inside. The single divider is secured with velcro, making it simple to remove or reposition. The interior walls are padded with cell foam and lined with soft brushed fabric: gentle on camera delicates while grabbing velcro like glue.GOTCHAS: The strap is thin (1” width), bitting into my shoulder when the bag is stuffed. A wider strap, e.g., 1.5 inches or a shoulder pad would solve that problem. I swapped in an old 1.5" Tamrac strap I had laying around and it was more comfortable. The big white Crumpler logo is an eyesore but easy to remove with a seam ripper.I own several Crumpler camera bags and they obviously understand photographer needs. The Pleasure Dome hits the mark with quality construction and materials, fast access, simple uncluttered appointments and stylish design. Wish it shipped with a wider strap but still the redesigned Pleasure Dome is a great little bag for a small DSLR or mirrorless kit. Lastly, Adorama’s direct shipping was impressively speedy.
