Alley Oop Stretch Effex Color Changing Toy Frogs by Stretch Effex

Why dies it take 5 min and extremely cold ice water, not just cold but VERY COLD to get a slow and slight color change? Also, they all turn purple, or at least 3 of the 4 do. I haven't tried one of them.
