Solar Powered Spinner Motor

Works, but with limitations
Economically priced, but needs FULL sunlight to work properly. The one I purchased worked for a few days, but after a couple weeks it would no longer run. You could hear the motor run, but would not turn the mobile. Almost returned it for credit, but decided to take it apart and see what was going on. Inside the device are 3 gears and a belt. The person who assembled the unit, really greased the inside, but missed greasing the shaft that spins the mobile. The belt was greased heavily it slipped on the pulleys and would no longer spin the mobile. Removing a few screws and the assembly was disassembled. A paper towel removed the grease from the belt and pulleys and a little petroleum jelly was used to lubricate the "spinner" shaft. Assembled the unit and it is working much better than it ever did. Now it starts by itself when there is enough sunshine, which out of the box it did not do (we had to start it by spinning the shaft). It has been 3 weeks since the disassembly and repair and still working great.

I am sooooo disappointed!
I purchased two of these spinners with an arrival on Dec. 23, 2016. I did not hang them up until Dec 27 as I'd received a second spinner I knew I was getting for Christmas. They worked perfectly... for 30 days in one case and 32 days for the second one. I thought it was strange they both quit right together and thought perhaps they needed a day of "charging only" so turned them off for a full 24 hours. (They run during the daylight hourse stopping occasionally for about 15 minutes or so to recharge; very acceptable for me.) After charging, neither worked after I turned them back on. Thinking they may be run with solar charged batteries, I took them to Batteries + to get new batteries (which was not very acceptable given they were barely a month old!) However, after removing the solar panel we discovered they are not run by batteries but a solar run motor. There is a small rubber belt that turns the gears to make it spin. Both were broken and un-fixable. I am sooooo disappointed!

Not meant for outdoor use or weight
On my second one. First one lasted 24/7 outside in the Colorado elements and finally died - but not before it spun a crystal in the sun making us all happy.Update: On 3rd one. 2nd one died much faster than first (maybe 4 months) I have a metal/crystal thing hanging from it, maybe 2 pounds. Probably don't want to buy this if you have anything that weighs that much.

Disappointed
Received this in late April, excited to install on our back yard deck, . Worked well mid-morning until mid-afternoon when direct sun was on the solar panel. It rotated faster than we would have liked, and then disappointed that it has completely stopped working on August 6th. No longer rotates. Will look for a different one.

Solar powered, no batteries needed.
When I ordered it, it showed the item would arrive around the end of the month. It came in two days! It is solar powered, so we had to wait for it to charge of course, but it works great. The spinner now goes regardless of wind or not. If there is no sun it might not work, but that doesn't bother me. It has an on and off switch for winter. I am very happy with the item.

Target spinner
I hang aluminum targets from a spring steel wire on this for rotating bb gun targets. The spinner is holding up great a few weeks in despite the ruthless day long spinning.I'm confident the gearbox would strip in a year or two, or by then the solar cell might be frosted from heat, as it's an epoxy type, but it works fine for my use.

... powered spinners no problems other than battery replacement not bad but I do not run them as
I have had four of these over the last two summers an none of them lasted more than a month so I now am using battery powered spinners no problems other than battery replacement not bad but I do not run them as much

Great for Outdoor Use
This little guy does a fantastic job if it's in DIRECT sunshine. Indoors or in the shade, not so much. I was disappointed, but hey, it's inexpensive and when used EXACTLY as the directions say, it works.
