Will this kit work on testing for asbestos on Pop-corn ceilings?

This kit contains a 12 cent latex glove, a plastic bag, directions on where to send the sample after you laboriously dig it out of your own ceiling, and a bill you can pay to get results. If you purchase this, you are not smart.Get your own glove, take your own sample, and deal with the folks in your community who do this for a living. They may soak you for their fees, but you will not have spent $7.00 for a plastic glove.

Has anyone actually gotten a positive test result for asbestos on their report?

Yes. I sent in samples for loose blow in attic insulation and popcorn ceiling. My house was built in 76. Insulation came back negative, but the popcorn ceiling came back 4% asbestos, which they told me was 4x the legal limit in washington, where I sent it from.

Is this a do it yourself test kit?

Be aware that knowing you have asbestos is not enough in some states to schedule remediation. Eg. in California you have to use a certified testing service who comes out and takes the samples and has them tested. A waste of $90.00 (flooring requires 2 layers paid for + cost of kit) and I'm going to have to pay another $300-$400 to have the required testing done.

Will the analysis look for fiberglass fibers, also? Does this company offer a kit for fiberflass dust testing?

They might, but I am not sure. I ended up not taking the job, and never used the kit. But I can tell you this, any house made before 1970 has 95% chance of asbestos. When I was young and stupid kid I helped a contractor on a job remove asbestos from pipes. I didn't know what it was. He made me use a vacuum. Dust was in the air.... Just never use a vacuum. And wear a mask if you think it might be possible. And keep in mind, as bad as asbestos is, people worked with it their whole live and never got ill, but some do... And people breathed it on the highways when it was used in brakes. It is still used in brakes. If you hire a company they will know what to do and how to properly handle it. If they are legit company.
