All bar soaps are alkaline. Generally the more alkaline they are, the more effectively they clean, however higher alkalinity is also associated with that squeaky clean feeling (oils being stripped from the skin *not good) Conventional bar soap is actually solid detergent and is usually close to 12pH which is exponentially higher in alkalinity than our bars.
