Q: My meter just came in and it is showing wildly different readings when I test the same exact spot.

1. The moisture or pH values are different for different depths of your spot soil. 2. In order to get more accurate readings, the soil meter needs to be inserted into soil 4 inches or deeper(about 2/3 of the probes)

Q: Soil ph is reading an 8 on every soil does anyone have issues with the soil ph. i even tried in a soil that's ph is 6.6

My ph stays at 7 no matter what soil I put it in. I bought it mainly for that feature and after researching, I should have gone with something different.

Q: Since the probes are 6.7", is that also the max depth the product can measure? Or does the meter need to be elevated a couple of inches off the soil?

Yes, it is, but we recommend inserting the probes into the soil 4 inches or deeper (two-thirds of the pole) and keep the whole plastic dial do not touch the soil to avoid destroying electrode.

Q: Can you use this also to check the ph in water before you water your plants or just soil?

No, you can't. This soil tester is designed to measure moisture/ph level of the soil and sunlight level. The 2 probes are copper probe and aluminum probe, if you use it to test the ph in water, or other liquids, the 2 probes may be damaged. So, please do not use this tester to test pure water or acidic liquid, just use it to measure the soil. Thank you.
