This is a completely unique piece- a book in appearance, this is actually a wood box which is wood-burned and hand-decorated. The "spine" opens into a drawer- perfect for jewelry, trinkets or any other keepsakes! The front appears to be the classic "The Great Gatsby" by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Our sullen hero sits quietly, and although surrounded by jubilation and glittering gold, he knows there is emptiness in his life. I love the Y flowing into a martini glass. The back is particularly cool- it shows our leading cast, the interwoven and unspoken connections between them and in the middle of it all is Jay Gatsby, a self made man with something to prove. It is bordered in an art nouveau pattern, decorated in gold, pearl and gem. The side is in gold and glossy black. A woman driving a Porsche completes the look.
