For starters I'm very particular about who sharpens my skates. I drive 35 miles out of my way to have someone who knows what they are doing sharpen them. I drive by 2 hockey shops to have them sharpened by this guy because he knows what he is doing, checking for level, hollow etc. So any tool that eliminates one or two trips for sharpening is well worth it to me. This worked way better than expected. The first time I used it I believe that I did 3 swipes, and the edges were almost too sharp. I highly recommend, as the video instructs, to only take 2 swipes the first time you use it. With respect to some peoples comments about breakage, I can see that if you apply to much pressure that it may break. But if you follow the instructions and apply light pressure you should be just fine. Well worth the money!

Sharpeners work great and come with an extra stone head. The key to making them work is to have a single stroke across the entire blade length when on the bench. Test the edges out on the ice before doing any more sharpening strokes. Generally no more than two strokes or your edges will be to much!

I’ve just received this item and used it only once in lieu of a pro shop sharpening and it does seem to do the trick if you are looking for a quick fix. I have a pair of CCM Super Tacks with the oxidized (black) speed blade runners. These runners do a great job of prolonging edge life so I probably only needed a quick touch up anyway after about 4 hours on the ice - so keep that in mind. Nonetheless I think this too will come in handy when I can’t get to the shop for a sharpening in time.

I found that the sharpener puts a good edge on the skates but has a tendency to make them very sharp. A very negative comment - The directions were not sent with the sharpener - and on-line directions were not available without a charge. A real ripoff!! Also - the company did not respond when I asked them for a free pdf file for instructions.

Great tool! And great extras that come w it including wiping towel and replacement head for the sharpener. Also comes w a pouch to help you locate easier & keep everything together. Great buy, great price!

We LOVE this sharpener! It is awesome! The first model we had though would lose the stone, which was an issue because once I dropped the second one, we were in bad shape... we had come to depend on this little thing. Customer service was awesome and sent a new stone as promised. In the meantime, because we couldn't wait for the replacement, Iso I ordered us a second one. The new model holds the stone tight and is great! My son is 9, plays ice hockey 3-4 times a week and I sharpen after every practice/game. I pass it over the blades 3 times each use (per blade) and it really makes a difference. This way, I'm not running to get them professionally sharpened constantly - though know we do still need to do this occasionally. This tool is the best!

I bought 3 thinking that would get me through one hockey season. 2 broke the first day I used them. Waste of money. Complete junk

This product works great for a short time until it broke. The first head fell off and broke on the floor while I was sharpening my scape, then the second replacement piece also broke a few weeks later the same way in the locker room. Otherwise the product is pretty good. I am a little bummed that it didn't at least last me one season. I only had it for a couple of months and maybe used it 5 times.
