The only true sunshade for drone controllers
As all drone operators know, bright sunlight renders the controller monitor nearly useless without a physical sun shade or moving into a shaded area. Moving into a shaded area is seldom an available option and 99.9% of the marketed physical shades consist of rectangular, black, three sided devices which are a few inches tall and do not provide any significant improvement over a bare, exposed monitor. This is a true shade. It attaches quickly to the monitor and with the included extension allows you to view a bright display on your monitor on the brightest days, any time of day and facing any direction relative to the sun.I was concerned that it would be another disappointment as a monitor sunshade ; but, I was ready to take the risk as it appeared to be a true sun blocker and it is.I was concerned that it would not fit properly and involve lengthly assembly and attachment to my iPad mini. It comes with no instructions and I had it attached and working perfectly in about five minutes. The operator has access to the touchscreen of the monitor via as elastic fabric window on the back of the sunshade. The HAV1KIT is truly a drone operator’s dream come true.

Works Wonderfully - Worth the Investment
I recently purchased the Hoodman for my iPad Mini and have only flown with it once, probably three days ago. I must say it worked very very well. You can see the screen as if you were inside the house. It comes in two (2) pieces, a base that attaches nicely to the iPad and an upper piece that your face rests on. You can use only the base, which does a nice job, but the upper works wonderfully. Easy to take your face off the hood to see your drone then put your face back on the hood. There's a slit in the base that allows you to get to the touch screen to make any adjustments. Takes a bit of getting use to using the slit, kind of cumbersome maybe... One thing I did find kind of annoying, when you place your face on the hood and you put your nose in the hood as well as your eyes, it gets a bit warm inside. I found that you can position your face in the hood while keeping your nose out of it. I figure a little practice and it won't be an issue.Overall, I would highly recommend the "Hoodman Drone Aviator Hood Kit", it's a great, worthwhile investment.Hope this helps.

Perfect for sailing with remote nav repeater
I wished to use my Samsung Activetab3 8" tablet as a remote navigation display in my sailboat's cockpit. Even though it has a bright screen..and a matte non-glare screen protector... it was impossible to see the screen if there was any sun at all.I was all ready to construct my own hood when I came across the Hoodman for the Ipad mini 8.It is perfect for my needs. So well designed and constructed. And very fairly priced.

Just returned from flying 3 batteries with my new Hoodman and I couldn't be happier. It works amazing
I posted this over on Phantom Pilots...thought I would share here:Just returned from flying 3 batteries with my new Hoodman and I couldn't be happier. It works amazing...that's really the only way to describe it.What a difference to fly and be able to see every little detail on the screen. The only 2 minor issue I have...the weight of the hood makes the mount creep downward. I'm going to try to tighten the top screw and see if that helps before I go out shooting again.Second issue...the little 'slot' they have for you to reach in and touch the tablet is too stiff. Its so hard to use the slot...especially with the tendency for the whole unit to move up and down so easily from the weight.Other than those 2 minor issues....I haven't enjoyed flying as much as I did today. World of difference with my acer tablet.

Fits my Nvidia Shield K1 perfectly.
I don't know why I never saw this on Amazon when doing searches but this hood is amazing and fits my Nvidia Shield K1 perfectly. At first I though it might be covering some of the screen on the short sides but close inspection with the tablet on shows all the screen. The only con is the mounting system that others have mentioned. But once you get the 3 straps adjusted and tight it's easy to just disconnect the buckles to put it on or take it off.Absolutely no light enters the hood when you put your face up to it because there is a light rubber seal that conforms to your face nicely. I can now throw away the 3-4 other hoods I jury-rigged to work on the Shield. May even sell my DJI Goggles as they are not comfortable for me at all. It's well made of quality material and while the price isn't cheap it does the job and may save you from running into something at twilight.

High Quality & Well Designed - Best Hood / Shade on the Market.
I don't understand some people with the negative reviews regarding this product. Most all other hood / shade products are flimsy, poorly made and engineered. They also do not secure your tablet or smartphone properly, thus if you tilt the tablet holder in a natural upright position, your tablet will many times fall off the holder. Not so with the "Hoodman". The Hoodman properly secures itself and your tablet / smart phone with three quick release straps so you can adjust to any angle safely without the fear of your tablet falling off and crashing to the ground. Additionally, the material is heavy-duty and not some cheap cardboard that will deteriorate with a little moisture or wear-and-tear. It takes about 60 seconds to assemble and disassemble. I called Hoodman directly to make sure of the correct size I would need for my mini-iPad. They took my call, were courteous and helpful. This is the best shade on the market, hands down.

Great sun block
When you are using the Hoodman Aviator with your drone it is totally awesome. It blocks just about all the light shining across your iPad screen, and it fits very tight to the iPad that there is no worries about it coming loose and falling off. When you add the extender kit to it, you have a very good view and can see your drone on the screen so much better. This is a great tool to use when you are out flying your drone in bright sun light.

Very nice unit
All of the reviews here are correct by my view. This could be better and is way over priced, but there is nothing out there that compares. I have the second part that comes to the face. You have to adjust to it, but I think its positives way out way the negative..

" The packaging is not great as it comes in a clear plastic zip bag
Just done my first tests with my new Hoodman. Having read the reviews I was keen to get it. I have to say my first reaction when it turned up was "is that it?" The packaging is not great as it comes in a clear plastic zip bag. There is no carry bag and I thought for the money it would have something other than a clear plastic bag to put it in.The materials are ok but the fixing straps on the bottom are just bits of elastic that won't last that long and can't be replaced. I also found it a little difficult to get on but I guess thats just practice. There is an elastic hand access light trap at the bottom that gives access to the touch screen. This is badly designed as the elastic stays open after you have used the access and you spend ages then trying to get it light tight again. The opening at the top is comfortable and easily holds around your face to stop light. It is not too heavy even without using a neck strap. a little niggle that offends my OCD is that when you have the hood attached correctly the logo at the front is up-side-down. No idea why this is and it makes no difference to anything unless you have OCD like me. Why didn't you have it displaying the right way up - looks like a mistake, even if it isn't.My final points are does it do the job, well apart from the hand access hole letting annoying light in which really needs a major redesign yes it does.And... is it value for money - No. Sorry, the build, materials and design would make it still expensive at half the price. It doesn't even come with a carry back to protect it - just a clear plastic bag.Summary, does the job 7/10 but is way over priced, needs redesign and needs a carry bag.

Too short and not adjustable
This is a very well made and attractive hood for the Drone and would be ideal except that the design height cannot be adjusted and we found it too short for my OH eyesight. He could not focus clearly on the iPad using the ~HoodmanIt needed to be adjustable in height so that it would cater for all eyesight requirementsWe returned it
