Beautifully machined top performs very well
An extremely nice top, my first of this price point and a price I was reluctant to pay. However after finding myself more enamored than expected by my first top, a $24 ShadowSpin stainless steel top, curiosity got the best of me to move up in quality/finish to this product. Tops aren't "all about spin times" but that remains a fascinating characteristic to observe. My very first spin of this top on a 75mm lens fell just shy of 10 minutes...9:50 if I remember correctly, which was more than triple my best observed ShadowSpin time of 3:10. A second spin however was somehow sloppier, barely breaking 5 minutes.A very nicely machined and polished brass, this top is much more beautiful to watch than the dark, presumably anodized finish of the ShadowSpin, but each are their own unique variant in top design, the latter being a smaller mimic of the ForeverSpin tops. I am very curious to compare the Lambda to another precision top I ordered but at half the price....the Vorso Mk I Performance Machined top, purchased directly from the UK manufacturer. The Vorso top has the more industrial looking design of the two, while the Lambda is more aesthetically beautiful in my opinion formed from a single billet of brass and machined with smooth, elegant curves. Pricey, yeah, but a keeper, and still at the low end of the price spectrum when one looks at other more elaborate materials and designs. As I finish this review, my Lambda top also just finished a spin that was right at 11 minutes, on a 7-inch diameter magnifying vanity mirror that I bought for use as a spinning stage...best time yet, so better times are likely still!

The ruby makes all the difference!
Ok, now I understand why ruby is used in those fancy mechanical watches... The smoothness that it can be ground down to is what allows this top to achieve such long spin times. I was able to achieve spin times ~11 minutes within a day or so of spinning.Side note: I was spinning on a small concave lense at first, but the frosted edges were putting nicks into the brass, so I ended up switching to the mirror recommended in the listing.

Great top, exactly as described.
Exactly what I was looking for... spins nicely on any smooth surface, obviously the smoother the better. I purchased a convex glass lens to spin this on for longer runs.On that lense, my minimum spin time is ~3mins without even trying hard. So far my best time with just basic spinning is over 6.5mins. All just by hand and nothing special... I imagine with a string and metal rod you could get much longer spin times. The shaft is hollow so if you can get a laser pointer or flashlight aimed well, the ruby really shines. The video attached stops at 30sec, but the top spin for another 4 minutes

very fine made item
top notch, very fine made item , I have many brands, these are my longest spinning tops on a glass top. I would say not for children that will play and drop due to a ruby tip. older teens with responsibility, and the value of the dollar. they are not cheap but worth every cent I even bought his copper version. highly recommend. for the serious top collector or anyone wanting long long spin tins and appreciates Quality.

I have never seen so much joy on his face
I bought this as a gift for my boss. I have never seen so much joy on his face. The spinning top is perfect. It feels fairly light. It feels like it's never going to stop spinning. It's very stable.

A Fantastic and Slightly Mesmerizing Top!
This Top is Awesome! Don't waste your time with highly marketed competitive top. Wish I had known this one was available earlier. If you want a top to spin when on boring conference calls, this is the one. Fun, and works!!

I spun this top over 12 minutes. Unbelievable. ...
I spun this top over 12 minutes. Unbelievable. Its a bit smaller than I thought it would be and my 12 minute 24 sec spin was on a $5 Walmart makeup magnified mirror. I average around 8 minutes. Kills time at work and makes the clock move when its a slow day. :)
