Street Boys: A Novel

Another action story by Lorenzo Carcaterra. I found this book difficult to put down. It is one of the better historical fiction books that I have read in a while.

Was a good book, would recommend it, my husband actually read it.

Street Boys fighting Nazi's in WWII. Courage, ingenuity, and heartbreak combine with love to make this one of best of Lorenzo Carcaterra'a novels. I've truly enjoyed them all and if you love suspense, adventure and devilishly intriguing plots you will love any of his books.

Very interesting story. I know a fair amount about WWII but had never heard of this particular incident. My only quibble would be that the heroics and situations seemed a little overblown.

This would make a great movie. It's not only a "war" story with lots of action, but a human interest with youngsters (boys and girls!) fighting to protect their city.

My 13 year old son loved this book. It kept his attention and enjoyed the WW II story line in Italy. He liked how it switched characters views, Italians, Americans and Germans.

Great read

There is a story told over and over again in the city of Naples about a band of street orphans of about 300 who took on the might of the German army consisting of a whole panzer division and hundreds of Nazi storm troopers from the dates Sept 28th till Oct 1st 1943, these children armed with only primitive weapons and their knowledge of the streets fought with immense bravery and distinction. This book is based on this story, although not factual the author has tried to keep as close as possible to the original story, what we find is an incredible well written story, brilliant, you can't put the book down. If only part of the original story is true then it would have had to have been one of the most incredible battles of the second world war.

I liked the book very much. I did not know about the street war in Naples during the German occupation so i was very surprised to realise that this was loosely based on fact.
