This is a completely unique piece- a vintage book in appearance, this is actually a wood box which is wood-burned and hand-decorated. The "spine" opens into a drawer- perfect for jewelry, trinkets or any other keepsakes! The front appears to be the classic romance "Persuasion" by Jane Austen. It shows the two "lovers" hesitantly touching hands. There is nothing more that Anne wants to do than turn and embrace Frederick, but outside forces seem determined to keep them apart. . The whole picture is set against a coral colored background and gold, pearl and white filigree. Personally I think its a great blend of classic book imagery and a modern depiction. The spine has again the title and author, in gold and black. On it, sailing away to their own lives, is the Captain's ship. The back is particularly cool- its the letter that Captain Wentworth writes to Anne as his last declaration and gamble that she feels the same. What will happen??? The whole thing is sprayed with a glossy, protective finish. This is an absolutely wonderful piece for any fan of literature, Jane Austen, romance or classic English culture.
