Missing pages

Content wise, it was a decent read. However there were pages missing in between that spoiled my experience completely. It gives an overview of what went right in certain countries, but is not as solid on what went wrong in similar countries - that failed to do so well. So, conceptually lacking in some areas but a good introduction to how to think about these things.

Very well researched

I think Section C of the book was not needed, except that everything was amazing and well researched. Got a little boring in the end because things were getting repeated

Good access to various research results

The book covered strength of each country which made them to a great level. Authenticated supporting information given by the author were really astonishing. Very good book to read and reach valuable information. But, comparing with developed nations were unwarrented and took sufficient pages in the book.

An Important Book for Country Leaders (and Voters) to Appreciate

This is an easy-to-read, to-the-point book which touches on many nations and many insights. It seems well researched and covers many characteristics of successful nations. It moves along and is not overly dry, or boring. I have been suggesting it to those who like books which educate, inform, and provoke thought.

An extremely revelant book, exploring new solutions to current problems.

This book has been a very interesting and is very well written. It has looked at the uncomfortable truths of our current society and explored solutions by looking at small countries. I also liked the layout of the book. You do not need to read the whole book in order, but you can choose which chapter to read and skip parts that you may not find as interesting. I found the chapter about how Finland was able to create a completely new and modern education system in such a short time and how it is now one of the best very interesting.

Valuable lessons for 2020 and beyond

In Too Small to Fail, Breiding expertly addresses a short fall in today’s political literature, which is what actually makes for a successful nation. Too often, the focus is on failure and what went wrong, rather than critically viewing success stories, and actually determining what works. This book offers a well researched look into successful socio-economic policies, and overall what ideas can make the world a better place. As a U.S. Citizen, I would call this book ‘a must read’ for 2020, as it analyzes some of the short comings of our larger nations, whether that be in the structure of policies, or in a society that continually values individual experience over collective good. Moreover, it is interesting to peak into the culture of these TSTF nations in light of COVID-19, because unsurprisingly these smaller and ‘we over me’ societies, seem to have faired much better amidst the pandemic, than larger countries like the U.S. and Britain. All in all, TSTF posits very valuable lessons for the world to learn on a large scale basis, as well as the individual level.

Small is beautiful

If you always suspected that small is beautiful in terms of business, economics and government here's the proof. Succinctly written, thoroughly researched and evidenced, Too Small to Fail is a compelling argument for maintaining compactness for the future health and success of our planet.

Find a Place to Belong

Great book - sheds light on why America tends to fracture into small, regional communities. We should embrace the process rather than try to homogenize a country that spans the continent.
