Light-weight, batteries interchangeable between light and drill (no extra battery). Also comes with extra circuit thing (not familiar with exact name) for drill when current one gives (my Father thought that was cool and convenient when gifted to him).

household drill
The Durofix RD 1286-KL 12 volt Drill is a good, very light duty drill. It will make a good household drill for the little jobs around the house, such as hanging curtain rods, pictures, and many other light duty drilling and screwing. I tested the drill with a 1/4 inch wood drill bit into a construction 2x4. Then I went to the 3/8 inch and then the 1/2 inch bit. It worked well until the 1/2 inch bit. This is a big twist drill bit. At that point it started to bog down and was likely a too much for this drill, though I did get through the 2x4. Next I tried a 3/4 inch spade bit into the 2x4 and it went through easily. I then tried a 1/4 inch high speed bit into 1/4 inch strap iron and it had no problem. I would never push the capacity of this drill by using it for large hole drilling or a great many multiple tough drilling projects. I have many other heavy duty drills which would do this better. This is a good unit as a power screw driver since it is very light, under 2 lbs. The small lithium batteries take about 20 to charge, though the charger itself is rather large in comparison to my other lithium battery chargers. The drill also comes with a set of motor armature brushes in case they would wear out. I've never seen this before. These parts are often hard to find as the tool gets older. The flashlight is nice, it will clip to a shirt pocket. It also has a ring to hang it from something while using. It uses the same type of battery as the drill, it comes with a battery for each. The only thing I would have done to improve it would be to have the light hinged so the light could easily be pointed toward a project while standing on its base. This unit comes with a few common drill bits, a case and a few screw bits. I recommend this drill for use around the house for light duty work.

A good drill for a homeowner looking for a cordless drill without the weight and bulk
I have three sets of cordless drills other than this one: A Ryobi, A Craftsman, and a Black and Decker. I'm a pretty avid do-it-yourselfer, so I use my drills frequently enough to know what I like. I've never used a Durofix tool before, so this was my first experience with this line of tools. This set comes with the drill, a LED light, the charger base, and a basic set of bits. The bits are of fairly low quality, but are fine for light household use. Still, most users will find that they need to upgrade their drill bits before long. The drill itself is not overly heavy, unlike many rechargeable drills, primarily due to the sleek, small rechargeable battery. This makes the drill much more flexible and easier to use compared to the other sets with the larger, clunkier batteries. This, alone, makes the set worth having! I suspect the smaller battery will not last as long, but the kit comes with two, and the batteries charge extremely quickly, which means you could always have one to charging while the other is in use. I will update this review in two weeks, as I have a major project planned and will have a better sense for the battery life, and if this causes problems. The drill itself seems to have a decent amount of torque. Granted, this is aimed at household use for your average homeowner, so you should not expect this drill to do any kind of heavy duty construction work. I have only used the drill, so far, for drilling, at most, 1.5 inch screws into studs (after drilling pilot holes). Any drill, more or less, should be able to handle such a load. I will update this review after my home project which will involve a little more hefty use.The drill does give off any annoying high pitched squeak noise when used at low speed, and there is a weird electrical "burning" smell during use that becomes markedly unpleasant the longer the drill is used. Still, so far, the lighter weight and smaller profile makes this the "go to" drill for my light, around the house, needs.

A Solid Performer
About 20 years ago, I bought a Dewalt 9.6V drill/driver. It has been tremendously handy and has seen plenty of abuse and neglect. I replaced the batteries and it was still working when I donated it. It started having trouble driving heavier loads so I decided it was time to change. I replaced it with a Milwaukee 2401, supplemented later with a Milwaukee 2411. These Milwaukees are smaller, lighter, and charge quicker. I do miss the nice Dewalt case, though. The drill's performance is comparable to the 2401 but lower than the 2411. I tested all three with a Kreg Tool HD Jig with 2x4s (which was the last thing I used the Dewalt for). The Durofix seemed to drive the drill and screw similarly to the 2401, maybe slightly easier, but definitely less than the 2411. Things I noticed: both Milwaukees have battery meters which are useful while the Durofix has no indicator; the Milwaukees are smaller and lighter; the Durofix and 2401 have plastic chucks while the 2411 and Dewalt have metal chucks; the Durofix and 2401 have a single speed range while the 2411 and Dewalt have dual ranges; the Durofix battery does not fit in the Milwaukees; the Durofix battery is much easier to remove; and the Durofix battery fits in its charger better. The case is convenient and the metal latches should take quite a bit of use. The light gives off a decent amount of illumination and seems rugged enough. I wish it had multiple illumination levels but it is useful and I have used it several times already. This is a good combo set.
