Core Focus Grade 8: Test Practice for Common Core (Barron's Core Focus) Csm Edition

My daughter needed to take a standardized test for a scholarship grant and this book is concise and well made. The test that she took did’nt have any books available in the market and reviews are expensive. I took a chance and she did very well and got qualified. Have not heard yet if she got the grant. I have always trusted Barron’s books for a long time with my kids standardized testing, even with PARCC. Very satisfied parent!

I only need the math part of this book so that is what Im reviewing. The lessons start out as multiple choice problems and then expand to include open-ended questions. I will be using these as partner activities after the initial basic mastery of the skill. I am very pleased with this book and it is going to save me a lot of lesson-planning time. I have been teaching 5 yrs.

I absolutely love this book! My only complaint is that is only has one reading per standard. This is the only resource I have found so far that concentrates on one CCSS at a time, which is great for remediation and RTI. The readings are challenging, but not impossible. My students dont feel defeated when working on these passages.

I used it to review the concept before the state test and it does a pretty good job at it.

This is an awesome supplemental text. I have only used the argument writing portion but my co-worker loves using the math section.
