## Questions & Answers

**Q: How many of these would I need to join two 7' butcher block countertops together (length-wise)?**
A: Hello
My assumption is you are trying to make a kitchen island or similar out of 1 1/4" butcher block. These weren't intended for this use as they will "compress" the underside of the table leaving a small crack on the top side thus allowing food and most importantly moisture to seep in. These were designed for a Formica or Masonart style counter top that has a slight lip to it thus allowing a seamless seal with the use of light caulking.

If your intent is indeed a counter top, I would highly recommend using a biscuit joiner and pipe clamps; alternated one on top and one on bottom every 8-12 inches. You will then need to lightly sand for a smooth surface (150 grit). Much more work however it will not be permeable to water and thus failure over the long run. Yes, these will set you back about 200$ but given that you purchased (2) 7' butcher block tops to begin with, this shouldn't be out of your budget.

## Customer Reviews

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works great but practice first
*by A***R on March 7, 2020*

Using two of these on a butt joint with two pieces of 25" laminate countertop. Coated the ends of the countertop with wood glue and its holding strong and I love that this helped pull the pieces towards each other from the middle of the width of the counter. However, practice first! It can be difficult to get the screws to catch the threads, and depending on which side of the joint you're on, which way to turn the ball joint might not be obvious when there's wood glue everywhere and you've made a giant mess. This happened to me and I spent 10 minutes frustratingly turning the joint the wrong way. If I did a glue-less practice first, things would have gone much easier for me.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works very well
*by S***N on June 23, 2019*

Easy to use, worked like a charm to attach acacia counter top miter. 7/8” Forster bit for the mounts and 7/16” drill bit for the bolt (run the drill bit past the hole for adjustability)

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Ball end operation.
*by K***4 on September 3, 2018*

Worked well. As described. Holding a 20 foot conference room table together. Could use a tool to operate the ball end.
