I have 2 way 6ft tall 4ft wide yard gate with self closer. I bought the to replace the butterfly latch that frequently failed to latch completely. This latch always captures the gate securely when it swings closed and is slimmer than the butterfly latch. Highly recommend.

Buyer beware! This is too small for farm/utility tube gates. Their tube diameter is 1.75" and this only fits up to 1.5". Yes, this is in the description but truthfully I did not know how thick the farm gate tubes were. Thankfully returns to Amazon are easy! The replacement my fence installer provided in the proper size is great. I love these latches because they are so easy and they prevent gate sag. I highly recommend them, though as other reviewers have mentioned your fencepost and gate do need to be properly spaced (with a wooden post you may be able to carve out enough space but good luck with a chain link fence). Great product.

Awesome, clever gate latch that I expect to last for 100 years. Reasonably priced and shipped quickly. Only shortcoming is the u bolts needed for these are oddly sized. Proper fitting u bolts should be supplied with them and yes this was an um-necessary nuisance. I think it would be a legitimate reason to remove 2 stars from this rating because of the inconsiderateness of the manufacturer to continue to not deal with this ongoing often complained about issue but the basic product remains superior to other latches I've seen.

I love these latches! I weld them to wrought iron dog runs and they work fantastic. Easy to use and the animals never get out. I have bought 10 of them. I give a 4 star instead of 5 only because one of the latches was faulty and allowed the slide bars to slip completely out and I had to put pins all the way through the latch to repair. The latches are welded to gates, so not able to return and so I don't know how the manufacturer would be about responsiveness to returns.

This is really a well designed lock in many ways. It remains to be seen, however, how well it will stand up to the weather. It is very important to note that it requires AT LEAST 1½" between the gate and the post. THIS IS NON-STANDARD and if you are mounting it in a gate frame as I have done, it will require some improvisation. They don't warn you about the space requirement in the description, so beware. The other bit of nastiness with this contraption is that the mounting holes for the latch mechanism itself require a pair of u-bolts which are NOT provided in the kit. That's OK, except for the fact that the holes are sized ¼" and spaced at 2". Again that is non-standard and it is difficult if not impossible to find a u-bolt that fits those ¼" holes and accommodates their spread. If your gate is an outside gate, which most are, it requires either galvanized steel or stainless steel to avoid rusting. And that make them even more difficult to find. I ended up getting much smaller u-bolts and actually stretching them to fit the holes and then cranking them in. Not a nice solution, but the best I could come up with. This unit would easily get 5 stars from me if it were not for the mounting debacle. If the mounting holes were 5/16" instead of ¼", it would have made things a whole lot easier.

This model is a smaller/lighter duty version of the standard tubular farm gate latch offered by this same branding. It is nonetheless a great solution for chain link gates which have smaller diameters. A really nice improvement over the typical. A good value, although you will need to add your own U bolts or lags, depending on whether you are mounting to a round gate post or wood 4x4s.

Product was exactly as described and installed easily. As I needed a means to lock my gate so that my dogs couldn't manage to open the latch this was perfect. As with any gate latch I might have gotten, you have to verify that it did catch because sometimes it might stick a bit and the drop lever might not fully extend. However in three months of use it has functioned flawlessly. I'd reccomend it to others as a means to latch a gate, especially a large five foot wide one like I have for the fenced dog run.

I have a chainlink fence with wood posts. Had to cut 3/4 inch out of the post to make room for this latch, but it worked out just fine. Very simple reliable design. Close the gate and it latches shut automatically. Very smooth. It did take me a long time to set it up just right though. I'll order another one for my other gate.
