Great new take!
I am an at teacher and read this to the third graders for one of our art projects. Love the different take and the artwork!

so-so
I thought this book would have a fun twist, but it wasn't for me or for my granddaughter. It was beautifully illustrated and might blend perfectly with others' taste, however..

A family favorite! Highly recommended! Mini Grey is a popular children's author!
Our family loves this book. Mini Grey is one of our all-time favorite author. I recommend typing in her name and getting most of her books. This is the typical story but with a fun twist that makes it very unique and memorable. The illustrations are fun. After taking this out from the library for 5 years, I finally bought it. Definitely a keeper and highly recommended!!

The Very Smart Pea and the Princess-to-be
I purchased this book as a belated gift for my niece's birthday and she was as delighted as I was. (It's a Mini Grey book, for heaven's sake - I had to preview it.) The book adds a modern twist to an old story, throwing in a little ecology for good measure. It was a delightful story and has set my young niece on the road to enjoying the incomparable Mini Grey. While I am glad I have young people to buy books for, I'll probably be sneaking peeks at Mini Grey (and Bad Kitty) books long after these kids have grown up.

Not so amusing
There are some books which are more fun for parents than kids, and this might be one of them. I found this retelling of the tale to be creative, yet oddly uncompelling. If your kids already know the story of the princess and the pea, then this postmodern tale might be amusing. I'm not a big fan of the traditional princess-marries-the-prince fairy tale, but this one didn't cut it for me or my kids. Since some reviewers seem to love it, I suggest you check it out of the library first to see what you think.

A creative and fun twist to a timeless treasure!
I absolutely loved this book and read it over and over as requested! It is entertaining to adults and children alike and gladly known as a "repeat offender" in our household. You can't go wrong with this selection. Told from the point of view of the pea, it is sure to please your reader or one being read to!

fun story for my 2nd graders
Great book! Fun to read during my Fairy Tale unit with my 2nd grade students. it was a twist on the traditional fairy tale, the princess and the pea. It was good to tie in a lesson on point of view with my students as well. The only downside to this book was that it had a pretty bad smell to it when it arrived. I removed the book jacket and that helped some, but my students did not want to hold it or be near it until the smell started to go away.

Another lovely story
Enough to keep an older child interested while I read it to her younger sister. We love it!

An interesting book.
The idea of a talking pea was very interesting but I didn't care for the illustrations. The people had pea eyes with no pupils and it looked a bit creepy. If I was a kid, I would have found the illustrations disturbing. Just my opinions.
